2019-11-08 11:51:35 +0000 UTCThank you so much for another fantastic reaction for Haven!! I really love this episode, and it's one of my favorite episodes from season one. :) I love, love, love Nathan's overall storyline, as he continues to struggle with his "trouble", especially after meeting Jess who was believed by most people in Haven to be a witch. Jess gives Nathan a new perspective on his "trouble", but what I love even more is that we can see from Nathan's reaction to Jess telling him she believes Nathan to be special and more than what he believes of himself, and the emotion in his eyes and on his face, that Nathan has always believed in the "troubles" and he has known all along that his infliction was never a medical mystery, but that he was "troubled" as well. We can see that Nathan denies the "troubles" because he's afraid and because he loathes himself for not being normal due to how the actual normal people look at them and treat them. I especially love the moment in the end between Nathan, Audrey, and Landon Taylor, when Nathan is the one who helps Landon find the will to go on living despite having been killed, stuffed like the rest of the animals within the taxidermist shop where he and his family have worked for some time, then resurrected. I love how Nathan cuts himself across his hand in order to show Landon that he and Landon have more in common, and that Landon is loved by his son, who doesn't and has never seen him as a freak. Normally, it's Audrey who has the ability to say and do the right things for these people who are "troubled" because she has a special gift that allows her to do so. But I love that every once in awhile Nathan, or perhaps someone else, is the one who can help them more than she can. And this moment is quite beautiful and sad. Especially when Audrey asks Nathan if he really believes what he had told Landon to give him the strength and courage to go on living. That he's magic. Sadly, Nathan doesn't believe so about himself. He still loathes himself, and a lot of his hatred towards himself comes from his upbringing by his father, and because of people like the Rev, or Reverend Driscoll who we met back in the second episode. A man who shuns and turns his back on those who are "troubled", saying they are sinners against God and that God has turned his back on them. As for the "trouble" itself, and it being connected to Landon's mother, Piper... I really love the concept of this "trouble". I love that she has the ability to bring back the dead animals, as well as her own son who had been killed from smoke inhalation from a fire that also sadly killed Landon's wife, back to life after she stuffs them. It's tragic that she had been forced to sacrifice her own life by locking herself in the room as the animals were all coming to life, so that she would be the last person who was killed by these dead creatures. As for how the "trouble" works... we learned in this episode that a "trouble" is activated due to stress. So when a person who is "troubled" is under an unusual amount of stress, or they become more stressed than usual, their "trouble" comes out. And in this episode, Piper was definitely under an excessive amount of stress, especially the closer that Nathan and Audrey came to discovering the truth about her son and what she had done. That is why all of the animals came back to life all at once when they did in the end. And when she had learned that Landon had been shot at before, her "trouble" was activated and caused the animals to begin to go after those who killed them. We also learn in this episode that the "troubles" are passed down though the family. Piper told Audrey and Nathan that members in her family had it and passed it down to her, as she has passed it on to Landon as well, who also has the "trouble". Now Nathan and Audrey are just hoping he won't allow himself to become overly stressed so his "trouble" won't eventually become activated as his mother's was. Overall... this episode was brilliant and I love the storyline throughout. I also like the possibility of Nathan growing closer to Jess, and him being grateful to her for helping him to understand his own "trouble" in a way he couldn't before. Thank you so much again! I love this show and I've loved all of your reactions so far, so I can't wait for more!!! I'm really happy you're loving this show so far too. I'm happy that I could introduce this show to you, when you normally wouldn't have watched it without my recommendation. And your excitement for more of this show makes me so happy too. :) Until next time...

2019-11-06 05:23:04 +0000 UTCBy the way... this is definitely your reaction for episode six of season one, but you posted it as last week's episode... episode five, Ball and Chain when this episode is actually titled, Fur. I don't know if you want to update this post or not, but I wanted to let you know. Other viewers might be confused.
