Also the loan thing is tough because you almost can’t get an advanced degree without it. I have a masters in engineering from one of the top state universities in my field and only four research positions (aka free school in exchange for slavery) were offered to a class of 35. If the only people who were allowed to go to school were those who could be RAs, our infrastructure would crumble. Just not enough of those appointments available to even keep the country going - and there is a constant shortage of people in my industry as it is. These universities are absolutely bloated with loan money and need to be gutted. You shouldn’t need an advanced degree for many things - just ridiculous that they charge you $50k a year and then make you take two years of filler class bullshit. Makes me mad.

Also I think a lot of people might be in the same boat as me - I’m cognisant of how much of my money goes to absolute bullshit (west coast life) that student loan debt forgiveness doesn’t bother me in comparison
