Great episode, just jumping in here to be a pedantic pseud real quick. It sounded like you guys hadn't heard of the parallel between early Christians & the woke your guest brought up toward the end. Check out Celsus "On the True Doctrine." It's short and gives a pretty concise anti-christian polemic from the pagan point of view. Critiques of the way they target a coalition of losers for conversio and subvert Roman society might feel familiar (setting aside all the dabbling in black & sexual magicks he accuses early xtians of)

I shared this episode with a more progressive friend and his first point (not without merit) was that claiming to be a "free speech absolutist" comes off as sad and impotent when you try to complain about woke progressives capturing your hobby. It's a case of getting hoisted on your own free speech petard. It sort of reflects a broader trend, older liberals lack any defenses against the next generation of progressives. You can grumble about the new generation wrecking things, but if your ideology is free speech, by what basis are you complaining?
