Maarek, Germany before 1914 was pretty meta unstable post-Bismarck, he was too good of a leader that nobody ever filled his shoes. Also Russia was very weak, the country couldn’t industrialize fast enough, & the Brits used all kinds of Marxist agitprop against both Empires to seize the moment. But the natural order is Germany & Russia on good terms. Many Romanovs were Germans (like Catherine the Great). There were millions of German settlements all throughout the Russian Empire The most sensible future is Germany-France-Russia all keeping the peace in Europe, just like the Metternich System. I’d guess Putin is really aiming for this, he also understands Germans. Plus one of his closest confidants is Gerhard Schroeder former German Chancellor, who despite everything remains Chairman of Nord Stream & Rosneft.
