OK so now it’s VideoNow then (now updated)

This has been on my to-do list for years but thanks to the recent loan of an early model of player and discs from a Patreon (thanks Andrew) I’ve been able to finally nail this one down. There are a lot of elements that needed to come together for this video, perhaps more than might be immediately apparent, hopefully it was worth the effort.

Anyway that’s it - take care and have a good weekend.

UPDATE

Apologies I was really worn out yesterday and as a result I didn’t do a good job of answering all the unanticipated questions regarding what would happen if one tried to play a PVD in a computer or tried to play a CD in the VideoNow.

Since these things were asked quite a few times already in the comments, it seems like something that I should include in the video.

So I’ve now gone back and added in a section that you can find at around 15:49-17:10

I also took the opportunity to do a few more minor tweaks here and there. I think/hope this video is finally finished now, if so I’ll make it public tomorrow.

Now every time I mess up something and have to redo it I'll think that it takes 3 double A batteries.

That was a fun video. We bought the original B&W version for our kids back when they came out. They were around 5 and 8 at the time, so probably right in the sweet spot for this kind of thing, not caring much about the terrible quality. I remember them watching in the car on trips. I also vaguely recall them not working very well after a while.
