A faulty SACD repair attempt

I tried fixing something. It didn’t go well. Here’s the video

In other news I’m working around family commitments at the moment. As a result Patreon/Youtube/Email/Comment uploads/updates/replies may be sporadic.

I hope to make a couple of short videos in an attempt to build up a buffer of content just in case these commitments get too onerous. However speaking from past experience that’s easier said than done.

I anticipate some might suggest to ‘never mind’ about the videos, that it’s fine to ‘take some time out’ etc. However I enjoy making videos, they keep my mind occupied on other more enjoyable things, and the situation is quite likely to carry on for months yet.

Anyway, I hope you’re all well - enjoy the rest of your week.

A faulty SACD repair attempt

Bit late to the party here, but did you ever try reinstalling the original laser in your firt SACD player to prove to yourself that nothing else had gone awry,, If you get it back to playing CD's, you could always sell it on eBay as faulty/repairable and even throw in a couple of spare laser assemblies of dubious operability ;-)

Gordo

Interesting, lots of parallels to the advice given when I had issues recently with a PS2 reading some discs but not others. "Twiddle the CD and DVD pots, here's a reference resistance". No dice, only replacing the whole laser assembly worked. Difference being, WAY more readily available to find parts for a PS2. Well done, even if it fought you the whole way!
