Many of you wouldn't prolly get the pun behind this post title...
And that's great, because it more likely means you're not as old as me (you lucky bastards!).
Matter of fact the above picture compares a Firing Range session from Babe Runner with the shooting minigame from Cinemaware's "it came from the desert", published in 1989 on the Commodore Amiga 500.
Yes, we're talking about a game and a computer both from 28 years ago;
And yes, I'm old enough to have managed to play it with no emulators (and homeworks to do, lol) since my second computer was a Commodore Amiga 500.
The point is, games from that "era" inspired me so much. Guys working in the gaming industry back then delivered games actually bringing something "new" to the scene. They were to be considered nothing less but pioneers, experimenting things around, and prolly creating game genres (as we know them) in the process.
So games like "Zak McKracken and the Alien mindbenders", "it came from the desert", "Monkey Island", "Police Quest", "Leisure Suit Larry", "Syndicate" and many others I'm surely forgetting...All of them kept me company during my youth, while shaping up both my "gaming perspective" and criticism about games.
Comes as no surprise that 28 years later, I so wistfully aim to implement in my games some of the elements which inspired me so much back then...While making me feel lucky to be the old geezer I am today. ^^
Talk to you soon :)
