I really wanted to get out of the house this week and finish off shooting some camera reviews...but I've been too ill to venture into Liverpool in winter. It's nothing serious, no need to be concerned, it's just that my fortitude is at a low ebb.
Anyway that means another yet audio themed video...so apologies if this isn't your bag. This one is features something I fully expected should exist...but I was unable to find anything like it until last week.
I'll let you in on a bit of behind the scenes info - the clip of the old turntable at the beginning is part of a video I've been (slowly) assembling for months about Seeburg background music discs and how to play them. Now I've got the speakers this one should eventually be finished.
I also thought I should update you on the bag of wire recordings I mentioned a while ago...I finally assembled the wires and plugs needed to get a clean dub of the audio to a WAV file, so I've listened to about six of the reels so far. Only two had anything on, but one had some home recordings of a gentleman and his lady partner singing part of a song. They both have such good blues voices, they must have been professional artists. Unfortunately the rest of the reel just contained the lady playing a xylophone and reading a passage from a book. I'm hoping the rest of the bag contains some more recordings of their music (I'm still hoping to find an important lost recording).
When I do get all the wire reels dubbed one problem I'll have will be how to present a primarily audio based video without having something for the audience to look at. There is only so much b-roll of a wire recorder anyone can take. Anyway if there is more on the reels expect this video to come along in a few weeks/months.
Anyway back to this video.... it will be Patreon access only, until (if) I get up tomorrow morning (UK time).
