This is one of a few devices that have been sent to me recently so I have been anxious to get the video out so I can move on to more fun projects.
It is rare for me to accept gadgets, but I'll make an exception when it is something that I haven't seen before.
I can understand why 'HDigital Eye' would want this one explaining in a video - it is difficult device to get across the concept with a couple of pictures and a few words on a website. Hopefully my video will help to explain more clearly what the Cellink B is all about.
I anticipate most feedback this will get on youtube will be from people telling me why they don't want to buy this product, e.g. it costs too much, it's going to blow up, no one needs to record video whilst parked etc etc...
I had a similar experience with the Nixie watch - the feedback was predominantly negative, mostly people saying it was too expensive and they would make one themselves. I know how much time and effort the watch took David at Cathode corner to assemble. It's in the tens of thousands of dollars... the idea of making your own for a few dollars is frankly laughable.
David at first tried answering some of those comments, explaining the reasons for the price, but I quickly told him not to back away from this as all he was experiencing was just the usual phenomena of an empty vessel making the loudest noise. I suggested to him that the people actually buying one of his watches wouldn't be the ones posting comments - they'd just quietly put an order in.
A couple of weeks ago he got back in touch to say that he's sold over fifty, half the new style watch and half the old one .This was a ten fold increase on the number of watches he sold in the same period the year before. My video had been shared quite a lot in Japan, and a number of sales came from there. Without the video, it's unlikely these people would know that Cathode corner existed....and despite all the bravado, very few people have the skills to make a Nixie watch themselves, the only place in the world making and selling them today is Cathode corner.
Anyway back to this video. Hopefully it will do as good a job of getting the information about this dash-cam battery pack to the small minority of people who actually need one. In Korea it is a best selling product, so there is a demand out there...but like everything, people need to know it exists before you they can buy one.
