The Film Room Ep. 74: Dalvin Cook is the future of the Vikings offense

Brett I just subscribed to your channel and donated a little bit. I have been watching football for a very long time dude. Die-hard. I have to say your breakdowns are some of the best I have ever seen. Not even kidding. Like just as good as something like NFL matchup with Louis Riddick. He's probably my favorite of all time but DUDE these videos are amazing.

As a Denver fan i'd like to know where the biggest diffrence between Booker and Kamara is. As a newbie to football, all i see is same height and weight aswell as good athletic abilities. So where are Bookers downsides that he can't be as succesful as Kamara?

Lukas Denver

Watson in the preseason and Watson in the regular season were completely different players. That was the most stunningly-fast progression from bad to amazing that I've ever seen. In that same vein, Kizer's regression from honestly pretty promising in the preseason to total garbage in the regular season was equally shocking. I think Hue destroyed his confidence by pulling him too early, and all of that potential he showed in August got destroyed along with it. That trade to Green Bay will be really good for him long term I think. Trubisky looked really good in preseason, and did nothing to change my perception of him in the regular season. I think now that he has a true complement of weapons we'll be able to fully evaluate him. The pieces he had around him as a rookie were...let's just say not ideal.

It depends on if it's PPR or not, but I think Cohen is going to put up Danny Woodhead kinds of numbers in this offense. He can be an every week flex play easily. Robinson is probably who I'm targeting first and foremost though. He fits what they want in an X receiver so well, and I think he's going to get a ton of targets not just between the 20s, but in the red zone as well. Trubisky is definitely near the top of the list of "QB2s who might produce like QB1s" right now.

I absolutely LOVE the LaFleur fit in Tennessee. I'll answer this one in the show.

I don't necessarily think it was a "fall" for Prescott, more so just that he didn't have Zeke for a big chunk of the year. Elliott is the engine that makes that whole team run, not Dak. When they lost the engine, their QB play suffered by default because he can't carry the roster like Zeke can. Also I don't really think they are rebuilding per say. Re-tooling or re-loading, sure, but they are far from a rebuild right now. They have the pieces to play with anyone, they just aren't consistent. IF they can find consistency, they'll be a wild card contender no doubt.

I like this one, I'll answer it in the show

Oh man that's a good one. I mean by default I guess the biggest jump would have to be Dalvin, since he got hurt so early last year. I also think Myles Garrett is going to have a HUGE second season since he will be going into fully healthy. Watson and Trubisky will both probably have great years as well since I really like what I saw from them. Oh, and speaking of Trubisky, Tarik Cohen as well. He's going to get a ton of touches in that system.

I wanted to ask this earlier, but since you made this video the question is probably obsolete. I'm still gonna ask, you never know: Who is the player you're expecting the biggest 2nd year jump from? Any team, any possition, which sophomore will start lighting it up this season?

As for the Q&A, I'd love to come up with some awesome schematic question, but I'll just be a homer – –what do you see as the main reasons for the Detroit Lions' OL failings the last couple years? Why so many sacks? Any OL/RB scheme/style mismatches, or was it as simple as injuries and subpar players leading to an inability to execute at the point of attack? Do this year's draft picks and coaching changes point to an overhaul in scheme to achieve success on the ground, or will Ragnow and Johnson just (theoretically) elevate the current running game's effectiveness? Thanks again.

Thanks a bunch in advance for planning content during your absence, enjoy the continent!

Mr Kollmann, another excellent post. Excited to hear what you have for us next. Cheers

Would love to see a video on the quick rise and fall of Dak Prescott. (Not saying he’s terrible just the difference between the two years) or why you think the cowboys went into a rebuilding mode despite being an amazing team the year before. (I.e. Dez Bryant cut)

Hi, Brett! I'm very much interested to hear your take on what could come of the Mariota and LaFleur's relationship, and if you think the scheme he will bring in Tennessee will fit his strengths and help Marcus finally live up to his full potential. Thank you, and keep up the very good work!

From a fantasy perspective, who on the Bears do you see as being solid picks or guys who are currently being undervalued? I know you've said before Howard, and I expect this new offense to open the box for him and they'll continue to feed him. But with so many weapons, will guys like Cohen, Robinson, Burton, etc get enough reliable targets to be week to week starters? Additionally, will all these weapons make Trubisky a steal later in drafts? Thanks for all your work!

I could imagine a "how I would rebuild the Brown's" video at the end of the regular season blowing up, or a prediction on the Brown's next year done now

I'm curious as to how you pick your videos. I really respect the fact that you seem to be very true to your interests, but I wonder if you could make more money if every now and then you churned out a video on a player who was blowing up in the league. You did it with Jimmy G, and obviously some big name rookies, but like a "does Dez still have it" or a "how Kirk Cousins will fit in Minnesota" would probably get way more clicks from the very little I know about youtube.

Hey Brett! I'm curious as to your thoughts on last year's rookie QB class. I know you dropped a video over the pre-season but am curiour to see if that opinion changed after seeing how they performed in the actual season. As a Texans fan, I am dying to know your thoughts specifically on yours and my hopeful QB of the future!
