I know this is a spoiler, but I think it’s important to clarify: Benitez is intersex, meaning he was born with both male and female reproductive traits. He likely had some form of external male genitalia—enough to be perceived as male, especially in a context where people wouldn’t have had any understanding of intersex conditions. So it’s not that he had a vagina and somehow didn’t realize that wasn’t typical for men—it’s that, outwardly, he broadly presented as male.
