The younger guy killing dogs is also in "Masters of the Air" (2024) (9 episodes). There were 3 areas of the roof having different radiation levels, respectively, that needed to be cleared of the radioactive debris. Two were cleared with lunar rovers. The third (the highest radiation level at 12,000 roentgens) (characterized as the most dangerous place on Earth) was cleared by the men because the rovers wouldn't work in that roof area.
