Pulp Fiction - Full Length Reaction!

Comments

It was funny to see your reaction ( as a young lady) because it is Tarantino's goal to make the audience nervous or can't predict the outcome! Hateful 8 is my #2 favourite by Tarantino ( were is waldo or clue type of film )

666 is referred to in the Bible as "the number of the beast" [the beast is the Antichrist who gets his power from Satan]. See Revelation 13.

Thanks for your reaction! At first watch of "Pulp Fiction", I found the non-linear storytelling to be a little confusing but it came together better for me in subsequent viewings. I was a little disappointed when Vincent Vega had his fateful encounter in Butch's apartment but the way the movie ends feels hopeful for Vincent and Jules. I enjoyed the unexpected appearances by comediennes Kathy Griffin (so young!) in the Butch and Marcellus car crash scene, and SNL alum Julia Sweeney at the junkyard scene with Mr. Wolf. Also fun to see again was Bronagh Gallagher in the O.D. scene at Lance's house, an actress I recognized from an earlier film, "The Commitments" about an Irish R&B band..

I just watched your reaction for a second time, it’s awesome. There are a few things I forgot to mention in my previous comment. According to Tarantino the back door was slightly open in Mia’s house to prevent the camera from being reflected in the glass. For the record, Quentin Tarantino has said that the contents of the case are whatever the audience wants it to be. Of course, that hasn't stopped internet sleuths and conspiracy theorists from drawing huge conclusions and theories from a finite amount of information. The prevailing theory is that the briefcase contains Marcellus Wallace's soul and that he sold it to the Devil in exchange for his prominence and success as a gangster. The evidence? The scar on the back of his head, which is visible throughout most of the film, is where his soul was taken from. Not only that, the combination on the briefcase was 666 - the number of the devil. In reality, actor Ving Rhames cut himself while shaving his head shortly before filming began. So he wore a bandaid to cover the wound.

While in college in October 1994, I went with some friends to see Pulp Fiction at the Lenox Square Theatre in Atlanta, GA. We knew instantly that we had just watched a masterpiece. As a group, that film kept popping up in our conversations for many years. While it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact moment I chose to become a cinephile, it’s hard to argue the impact that Pulp Fiction had on me. For that reason, Quentin Tarantino will always have my respect as a filmmaker… and my thanks. This film has a TON of trivia, but my absolute favorite is in the Credits. When Ringo is manhandling the coffee shop manager, he starts to say, “I’m no hero, I’m just a coffee shop manager.” However, he gets pulled before he can say the word manager, so it sounds like he says, “I’m just a coffee shop.” As a result, Robert Ruth is credited as… Coffee Shop. lol

I don't know how I missed Steve Buscemi! He has such a distinct look also!

I love this movie. My favorite Tarantino movie. The next Tarantino film -- Jackie Brown (1997) -- happens to be 2nd favorite Taratino film. I wondered if you noticed that their Buddy Holly waiter was Steve Buscemi (Mr. Pink of Reservoir Dogs). I like mayo, mustard, and/or ketchup with fries. When I lived in Europe for a few months in 1990, I saw people eating fries with mayo -- they would sometimes eat fries as a meal with nothing else. Agree that the movie is entertaining. One of my top favorite movies of all time. I like the focus on (and how the movie does) the dialogue = awesome/entertaining to me. I like the way the movie is presented out of chronological order. I like production aspects (though I am no expert), such as the use of space. Hash (hashish) is marijuana in the sense that it is made from the resin of the buds of the cannabis plant, which is then compressed into a sticky brown substance (which can be reddish-brown or black, etc.). A concentrated form of cannabis. More potent than typical marijuana.

Fantastic reaction, thanks. Mr. Blonde, a.k.a. Vic Vega, played by Michael Madsen in Reservoir Dogs (1992), is the brother of Vincent Vega. Quentin Tarantino even had a spin-off film in development, titled "Double V Vega," which was a prequel to both movies. This film was scrapped because both actors were too old to play younger versions of themselves. This was one of the first movies to use the Internet for advertising.

BTW, I even enjoyed the second and third sequences of the movie because of Samuel L. Jackson's performance in the former, especially when he ate that Big Kahuna Burger and drank Sprite to go with it as well as when he recited Ezekiel 25:17, and the Jack Rabbit slims scene in the latter, especially when Vincent having to take Mia to Lance's to give her an adrenaline shot after Mia OD'd. Here are some fun facts: If a Big Mac is call Le Big Mac in France then a Whopper is called Le Whopper there. Here's the sequential order of the movie as follows: 4a, 2, 6, 1, 7, 3, 4b, 5. Uma Thurman & Maria de Medeiros were also in Henry & June (1990), the first NC-17 rated movie. Unfortunately, that movie is unavailable to stream.

Pulp Fiction is always a fun watch

Happy Thursday Camilla. I'm so glad that you watched Pulp Fiction (1994). This is the QUINTESSENTIAL Quentin Tarantino movie. This is also one of my favorites of his because it was his first to be Filmed in Panavision (anamorphic) by DP Andrzej Sekula, who also shot Reservoir Dogs (1992), but in Super 35. I own this movie on a 2-Disc Collector's Edition DVD and on 4K & Blu-ray as well. I even have a t-shirt of the movie that I bought at a department store in South Korea, back in July 2016.
