Camilla, thank you *so* much for be willing to say that this movie wasn't really your cup of tea! Some reactors seem to praise everything they watch, which leaves me feeling like they're just pandering to the viewers. I *really* appreciate your candor! Of course, it doesn't hurt that I completely agree with you in this case. To me, this movie contains some memorable ("meme"-orable?) scenes but doesn't come close to measuring up against films like It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, or Home Alone. But I *am* glad to know that we don't have to worry about you sticking your tongue on a frozen surface any time soon... 😉

Thanks for watching, Camilla. I liked "A Christmas Story" as did my kid brothers but my dad only enjoyed Darrin McGavin's role as the cantankerous dad in the movie. It's not a movie for everyone but it feels like a Christmas story for me. The only toy I dreamed about as a kid was a bendable toy soldier based on the 1961 Disney classic, "Babes in Toyland". I was fascinated by the wooden toy soldiers brought to life to help the heroes of the movie. I got that Disney toy soldier for Christmas and it made me believe in Santa for a while longer. I recall very little of the movie except that Annette Funicello was one of the stars. The only reason I remember her is because she was on TV as part of Disney's "The Mickey Mouse Club", which was a forerunner of the more modern day production of which some kids went on to greater stardom, like Ryan Gosling.

Did you mean perhaps the late '90s? I think TBS used to show it on a 24-hour marathon around Thanksgiving or shortly after.

😺 Camilla!!! 😺 This is such a classic that even my older brothers and sisters loved it! I only got to see it a few times growing up as I think it was the late 60's when they stopped the reruns.

Happy Wednesday, Camilla. A Christmas Story (1983) is one of my favorite Christmas movies. My favorite part will always be when Ralphie exclaims "Oh Fudge!" and ends up with Lifebuoy soap in his mouth. Another funny scene is when the dad says "Fra-Gee-Lay", when reading the crate that contains the leg lamp.
