As a person who loves the theatre experience, but is now a reactor, you'll have to wait to watch movies until they come out to stream! I know some other reactors have made arrangements with the theatre to bring the camera in with them and film their reaction right there... though you will still need to wait until the streaming comes out to release it. Otherwise, we won't have anything to watch your reaction with! One of the reactors actually rented the theatre for a viewing of the movie at midnight, after their normal closing time. Their family and a few friends were able to go watch the movie with them. I have no idea what the cost of that would be, but if it's a huge movie like Top Gun: Maverick (2022), then it would be worth it! You're doing great, you're a natural at this! So glad you made the jump into reaction videos. I'm sure it helps a great deal to know someone you can trust, who can help you when you need it. Welcome to the Patreon Party!

Hi Camilla! Sorry I didn’t leave a question, but I’m just a huge procrastinator and so neurotic every question I thought of was just awful so I bailed basically. Anyway, I’ll try to keep this short. I want to leave you with a “few” suggestions for your channel. Comedies: 1. The Big Lebowski 2. Tropic Thunder 3. Dumb & Dumber Horror: 1. The Shining (Stanley Kubrick) 2. The Thing (1982) 3. The Silence of the Lambs (psychological horror) Westerns (don’t knock it): 1. Tombstone 2. Unforgiven 3. 3:10 To Yuma (remake) (2007) Sci-Fi: 1. Aliens 2. Terminator 2: Judgement Day 3. The Matrix (1&2 are sequels; you should probably see the originals first) Crime/action: 1. Pulp Fiction 2. No Country for Old Men 3. Heat Action/Adventure: 1. Jaws 2. Twister 3. Jurassic Park Rom/Com: 1. As Good As It Gets 2. 10 Things I Hate About You 3. There’s Something About Mary Another Tarantino pick: Reservoir Dogs Another Coen brothers pick: Fargo A couple M. Night Shyamalan picks: The Sixth Sense and Signs A few Tim Burton picks: Batman, Beerlejuice, Alice in Wonderland, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (musical) A couple of Kevin Smith films: Clerks and Mallrats. And Dogma. A couple of witty Shane Black movies: Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and The Nice Guys And I’d like to throw in a few offbeat titles that don’t get any love from reactors: 1. The Burbs (Tom Hanks) (comedy) 2. Stir of Echoes (Kevin Bacon) (horror/mystery) 3. The Edge (Anthony Hopkins) (adventure/survival) 4. Rushmore (Bill Murray) (Wes Anderson) 5. Deep Impact (Tea Leoni, Robert Duvall) (adventure/survival) 6. Meatballs (Bill Murray’s 1st film) 7. Role Models (Paul Rudd) (comedy) 8. Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal) (drama) 9. Grosse Pointe Blanke (John Cusack) (rom/com) 10. Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas (Johnny Depp) (comedy) Ok, that’s enough for now. Hopefully these suggestions will help you out. I think you’re doing great.

Looking at you Letterboxd, you haven’t seen it yet, and I think you’ll enjoy Chronicle (2012).

My nickname at work is "Broken Penguin" lol

I see that your YT edited reaction for "V for Vendetta" has 47K views and growing. That's great, especially for a new reactor.

Camilla, thanks for the Q&A! I had no questions for you but you did talk about what you do in the film industry, which I found to be interesting. I generally do not have much curiosity about the people who provide reactions to films - only their natural reactions to movies I like or might be interested in watching along for the first time. I tried watching some of Addie's Q&As but some of the questions seemed to be more personal than I felt comfortable with knowing, so I quit watching them. You'll have to find your own comfort level when you do your own Q&As. I have never worked in anything industry-related but if I did I would have liked to have been involved in the technical side with film editing (which is possibly the only thing that has no equivalent to stage productions), sound design, and being a foley editor or artist. Two films I liked that touched upon things close to this were "Blow Out" and Francis Ford Coppola's "The Conversation", about which the lead actor once described as 'the pinnacle of my career'. Not sure the latter would make a good watchalong reaction video, as the pace might seem slow to some. Thanks for introducing us to your kitty, Peanut! I only had pet turtles and a toad when i was growing up and didn't discover that I had a love of all things cat until I was in my late 20s. It was a gradual thing. My impression when I was younger was that I saw a cat as a temperamental beast that was all sharp claws and sharp teeth and I didn't understand how my girlfriend at the time could love her kitty (an orange tabby) so. Later on, I got to know the cats in my neighborhood while out walking. Eventually, some would cross the street to walk along with me until I came back past their house. One kitty even crossed four lanes of a busier street (on a quiet morning) to greet me but I freaked when I saw her coming and ran to scoop her up and drop her onto her own porch. Since then I've shared home with five cats spread over the years and enjoyed every second of their time on Earth. Thanks for sharing.

I guess my letterboxd isn't on the patreon at all - thanks for pointing that out! https://letterboxd.com/camillaalmond/

This was great! I think I already have some more questions so I'll be looking forward to doing another one of these in the future! Camilla: "I definitely want to go to all seven continents." Also Camilla: "By the way... I've already been to Antarctica." 😮😮😮 There was a twist I didn't see coming! I'm not sure how difficult it is to get to Antarctica, but I can't imagine it's a place even most "world travelers" have been. I think it would be fascinating to hear more about how you ended up there! I'm trying to think if there are any good reaction-worthy films that take place there and the first one that comes to mind is "The Thing" (1982). Might be fun to watch that one someday! It has LOTS of great creature effects that still stand out today. No penguins though... :( I'm glad you appreciate the movie theater experience! I'm often shocked to find out how many people I know haven't been to a theater in years because they only like to stream from home. To each their own I guess, but I think there are some movies that just need to be experienced on the big screen at least once! My local theater does "throwback" nights where they re-play older films which is a great way to experience movies that I never got to see in theaters on their initial release (mostly because I was too young, or not even born). Some favorites have been Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and The Lord of the Rings! Besides the bigger screen I think one of the biggest differences is the sound! There's just nothing quite like those big sounds that make the whole theater shake! The recent Denis Villeneuve "Dune" films are great examples of this. While I have enjoyed them at home several times since their initial theatrical release, it's just never quite the same without that movie theater sound. Hopefully they will get a re-release someday as well! My other favorite part of the theater experience is the popcorn! Again, for some reason it seems you just can't quite replicate it at home, so you've got to go get the real thing! The only downside is that it can be so expensive. But my understanding is that most of a movie theater's revenue comes from its concession sales, so I'm always happy to buy something if it helps keeps my local theater in business. I don't always get candy/sweets, but if I do Reese's Pieces are usually my go-to! It sounds like there are a ton of great movies/franchises that you haven't had the joy of seeing before so I'm really looking forward to watching along with you as you experience them for the first time! I can't wait for the first reaction for "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy! Also looking forward to some more Spielberg films in the future! Just finished your "Saving Private Ryan" reaction and I loved how invested you were in it! I also really appreciate all of the thoughtful commentary you add at the end of your videos. Keep it up! PEANUT! What a handsome boy! He reminds me of some of my cats I used to have back home. I can't have any where I live now unfortunately, but I hope to have another good lil' guy of my own someday! Hope you figure out how to get his asthma in check. Poor guy! Forgive me if I've missed it somewhere else, but do you have a link to your Letterboxed list so we can see which movies you've already seen? Thanks! 😊

You too, Phillip.

Good to see you Alex on Camilla channel. :-)

BTW, please don't get me wrong on my dislike for Barbie (2023) and Wicked Part 1 (2024). I do appreciate and understand that you enjoyed both movies, but unfortunately, they aren't my cups of tea at all. In retrospect to all of this, I can only say that we all have different tastes in the movies & shows that we watch and that's ok.

Alex Tan

I did indeed get to see / walk among the penguins! there were guidelines we had to follow, so you never got closer than 5-10ft from them, but it was such a neat experience! thanks for all of your insight also - The Shining is definitely pretty high on my list!

camilla

This was good. Thanks for answering the questions. I was a patron of Addie (who I like) in the past. When I joined your patreon, I did not know you knew Addie. Peanut is a pretty cat. You seem to share cinematic interests with my son who is about your age. He liked Moonlight (2016) and loved Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022). He likes Wes Anderson and is a huge Kubrick fan. A Kubrick movie that I suggest that I notice gets good numbers of YT views for reactions is "Full Metal Jacket" (1987) (Vietnam War). My daughter who is older than you loved the Harry Potter books. When I took my kids to London, they enjoyed seeing Harry Potter stuff there. I am sure that Wicked was good. I am so happy you are reacting to the Lord of the Rings. Hope you're doing the extended cuts -- they are long but fly by. That's so cool you have been to Antarctica (no pun intended). My son and I have been to all the continents, except Australia and Antarctica. There are non-stop flights now from Houston (where I live) to Sydney -- that will make easier going to Australia. We considered going to Chile to take a helicopter to Antarctica. I understand it more common to take a cruise from southern Argentina to Antarctica. Did you walk among the penguins in Antarctica? I think Academy Award winners/nominees is an excellent guide for selecting movies to react to. My top two genres have historically been drama (a broad genre) and war. I also like Clint Eastwood westerns. When I was your age, I was focus almost exclusively on realism, but now in my old age have grown to like happy/positive stuff -- especially with the ending. I am not a horror movie guy but recommend "The Shining" (1980) (a Kubrick film starring Jack Nicholson) -- it is a work of art. I like a psychological thriller or psychological horror more than gore horror or supernatural horror. Sometimes it's hard for me to suspend disbelief with supernatural stuff -- I guess my lack of imagination. When I watched The Exorcist (1973) as a teenager in the 1970s, I was not scared because I didn't believe it. I sat there as a non-responsive blob. Yet, I like sci-fi/fantasy stuff b/c I guess I can better accept that imaginary premise. I thought Barbie (2023) was excellent. I am glad my kids watched it. I would not worry about rewatching Oppenheimer (also an excellent movie) any time soon -- there is so much out there to react to that you have not seen. I think seeking out Spielberg movies is a good thought.

Clay F

Happy Wednesday, Camilla. I'm also from Atlanta as well. Addie Counts brought me to you, after you and her watch the first two Hangover movies. I do hope that you collaborate with her in the future. #MoreAddieCountsCollabsForCamillaAlmond Maybe a rewatch reaction of Oppenheimer (2023) could work. #OppenheimerRewatchReactionForCamillaAlmond YES! Top Gun: Maverick (2022) is my favorite movie that came out in 2022. I did watch Barbie (2023) yet I didn't like it and I have very strong negative feelings about that movie. My verdict of it is "What the hell were Margot Robbie & Greta Gerwig thinking?!". In retrospect, I would NEVER rewatch Barbie (2023) and I give it no stars, 0/10, 👎x2. IMO, Oppenheimer (2023) is much more deserving. My favorite directors are Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, Robert Zemeckis, Tony Scott and Michael Bay. Movie theaters rule. My girlfriend & I often see movies in IMAX. Our cinematic interests mostly revolve around large scale blockbusters. We also like horror movies and love stories too. However, we both hate musicals, save for most of the Disney fare. My girlfriend & I DO NOT plan on seeing Wicked Part 1 (2024) & Part 2 (2025), EVER! I even have very strong negative opinions about those as well, despite not having seen Part 1. Instead, she & I saw Gladiator II in IMAX, last Friday, and we were entertained. We also plan on seeing The Running Man (2025), with Glen Powell, next year. And if there's a genre that I would rather see Ariana Grande star in, then it's horror. Instead of singing, she'll be screaming. I have two director suggestions: Tony Scott and Michael Bay. You've already seen Top Gun (1986), which TS directed, and A Quiet Place (2018), which MB produced. The Shining (1980) & Full Metal Jacket (1987) are two Kubrick movies that scarred Addie in different ways, with the former being the scariest. I'm still pushing for Addie to watch The Exorcist (1973). If you watch it with her, it'll be a lot of fun. #TheExorcistForCamillaAlmondAndAddieCounts Good luck on your LOTR journey. You'll have a lot to share with Addie.

Alex Tan

ADDIE!!! lol I YT sub'ed with Addie at about 5k lol Joined P at 20k? No! Only about 1/2 goes to Addie! The rest is yours because without you we wouldn't be here! 😺Peanut!!! 😺Nit one pearl 3! lol Collabs! YAY! I would recommend: "Inception" (2010) for you and Addie! LOL PEANUT!!! Pretty Kitty! He almost looks like Chance my wife's previous Cat. OMG! LotR! About 1978 my 2nd mom gave me Tolkien's entire works to that point. I can honestly say that I've read The Silmarillion, The Hobbit & LotR at least 20 times, at least! We had the Rankin-Bass production of LotR which was fun, but then Peter Jackson brought the books to life! I'm really hoping you enjoy them as much as I have throughout these long years! I for one will not ever vote for "The Exorcist" (1973). I was 9 years old when we snuck into the theater to watch it. With these Q+A's I don't mind. What ever you want or others want is fine! PEANUT! LOL Yes I am an old man and I love Cats! Any animals for that matter! But I do especially love K9 type people Too! Early 80's my friend Paul was a gardener, not just lawns but up to and including Bonsai! lol He was gifted a retired K9 "Notch" from the Washington State Patrol, most loveable German Shepard ever! HAPPY THANKSGIVING Camilla & Peanut!!!

That was interesting. I found you through the algorithm. I wasn't aware of Addy's (Addi?) channel. Just looking forward to your take on films that I either hold dear or just really enjoyed. Yes, I'd be interested to hear more about what you do in props, purchasing props, etc.
