Is this REALLY what you want, Princess?

Comments

I don’t think these worlds are currently stagnating. Stagnation happens if you kill the Shifting Mound, destroying the capacity to change. Even then what exactly happens is open to interpretation — the Long Quiet contains some of capacity to change, so the reborn world is not completely static. But before the final fight all of these worlds are real, normal, and destroyed every time the Princess escapes, killing everyone inside.

Maximilian

He's right in that those worlds end, time moves forward, death happens. But he's convinced at the thought that he knows what's best, that he knows time being static, time being a redundant stasis of nothing happening is better than death, or better than any sort of actual ending. I don't think those worlds that end are just worlds of people living their lives, it always sounded like those worlds were full of people stuck in time in some form. Or at least in a world of perpetual stagnation, where everyone is old, undying, and miserable. But maybe that's just my interpretation.

The Money

I think a lot of analysis of the Narrator misses one important detail that makes his character way deeper. He’s *right* about the urgency of the situation. Every time the Princess escapes, “untold trillions” of living beings in that world die (he’s not talking about the Princesses when he says that — he’s talking about people). Whether you agree with his goal of ridding the world of death or not, his methods and his feelings about the sitation are reasonable — overriding the will of one person to save literally everyone else is an easy trade. The tragedy of the Narrator is that he’s telling the truth almost all of the time — it *is* dangerous to know more about the situation (because the Shifting Mound changes because of that), refusing to slay the princess *is* going to end the world ending myriads of lives, he’s easy to ignore because the only character you see is the Princess, but all these lives *do* end off-screen. Even if you disagree with his final goal, ignoring the fact that he’s right about your situation makes him a much flatter character.

Lovely delivery of this chapter's lesson, and a nice conclusion to the playthrough—it feels apt with you wanting to eventually do more routes. Though a touch blasphemous, there is alternate ending that may offer closure that's more closely aligned with desires of this roleplay, though it's only available if one doesn't take the pristine blade when confronting the princess at the heart of the shifting mound :) Thank you for sharing so much insight in these videos! Looking forward to seeing more of Mouthwashing and the other series 🤘

Seems it may still be processing higher resolutions, so come back in a bit and it may improve video quality
