Long Overdue Changes to the Patreon

Hello everyone! Since the release of Public Access, we've seen a tremendous amount of growth in our community. So many new people are discovering the Gauntlet, playing our games, and hanging out in our Discord. So, what's next? 

For big releases, The Silt Verses RPG and Arkham Herald are next on the horizon, with Moonlight Vale coming up later this year in the Fall. We've also got a crowdfunding campaign for a physical edition of The Between coming this Summer! But what about in-between all those things? What else have we got in the can?

Well... 

For a while now, our Patreon has not accurately reflected the current state of the Gauntlet and its goals. With the unofficial retirement of Codex and the community gaming side shifting to Open Hearth, our benefits needed to change. So that's what we've done! 

Under New Management

Pulling back the curtain on the man-wizard behind everything for a moment—hello! I'm Alex, and I'll be your Patreon content manager for today.

Some of you might know me from The Darkened Threshold podcast and Jason's YouTube APs, namely The Ninth Step and Signals from the Other Side. Additionally, I'm the co-writer of Moonlight Vale alongside my good friend Megan Caldwell. I also wrote "The Whisper" and "Xxaagreus" for Public Access, as well as "The King in Shadows" for The Between.

Jason has placed me in charge of this whole operation, and I'm really excited to be here and getting things moving! So, without further ado, let's talk about those changes.

New Tiers, New Benefits

As some have already noticed, we have three new pledge tiers officially replacing the outdated ones. Here's a basic overview of the changes:

THE MOSS-COVERED GATE
Replacing the Gauntleteer... tier, this is our general support level. No more Codex means no more Keeper titles, so we've opted instead for a unique role on our Discord! It's a very nice green, too.

THE COSMIC PASSAGE
Replacing the Codex Keeper tier, we've increased the price (as we've done before) to $7. Aside from that the key difference here is that in addition receiving early PDFs of our new games, you also receive exclusive content. More on that in a moment. 

There's also a Discord role in it for you. It's a foreboding purple, and you get access to an exclusive text channel for patron-related discussions. Fun!

THE GILDED DOOR
Replacing the Hangouts Keeper tier, this is completely different from the original. While we still love community gaming, it's not nearly as large a presence in our current state. Instead of priority access to game postings, supporters of this tier get to participate in regular workshops with Jason every month! The first one for June will be scheduled soon, so keep an eye on your inboxes.

We're also offering infrequent access to exclusive playtesting sessions. Any game that's currently in-development, be it one of ours or from the community, is an option! If you're interested in helping these games get to where they deserve to be, this is absolutely the tier for you. Plus, you get a shiny yellow role on Discord. Win-Win.

It's important to note that even though we're replacing the old tiers, we've set it up so the new benefits apply to them! If you signed on as a Codex Keeper a while ago, you'll be getting everything from The Cosmic Passage going forward.

With all that said, what is the exclusive content we're promising? Coming very soon, we will be making regular weekly releases to our patrons of The Cosmic Passage and up! We're hard at work getting the backlog together, but once we get the ball rolling it's just not going to stop. 

Trust us when we say there's some really exciting stuff on its way. We're talking new scenarios, play aids, podcast episodes, and more! There are some extra Mysteries for Public Access currently in the pipeline. They're terrifying. And wonderful! But mostly terrifying.
