Aoki and Kimura are different. They arent gifted. They need all the boost they can get from takamura and everyone.

2024-05-16 15:03:00 +0000 UTCI noticed that Takamura introduced both Ippo and Aoki and Kimura to boxing and really gave them that drive. But soon after they got really into boxing and had their first debut matches he just kind of disappeared and only watched their fights from the stands not saying a word to them. Takamura gave them that inspiration and "basic" advice early on so he could see them develop in their own way without him interfering. So the reason why Takamura never really cheers for Ippo may be because he wants to see what Ippo is able to do without his help and cheering. Like an older brother in a way. Atleast that's my take on it
