Being a nerd here. If you take Lax's estimation at 6 human months = 1 Frieren Hour, Then every 1 Frieren Day = 12 Human Years. Not saying this is exactly how Frieren experiences time or ages, but thought that would be a fun calc.

What they were trying to convey with that last convo is that Fern wanted to learn any skill that would allow her to be able to support herself, so it didn't have to be magic at all. But despite all the options she had in life, she still chose magic in the end. That's when she recalled showing her magic to Heiter and how she felt back then and why she chose magic. It's showing Fern should already know the answer to the question of why Frieren is so obsessed with magic, because they both share a similar feeling about it.
