Pirate Island

The wave was high and the rain was pouring down hard.

「Two pirate ships ahead!」

A sailor NPC yelled loudly. Ponsuke went out.

The pirate ships were advancing through the raging waves and launched an attack at the ship that Ponsuke and co were boarding.

「This is the fourth time.」

They were getting closer to the island, but the attacks of the pirates were becoming annoying.

The pirates fired cannons. Large water pillars rose around the ship.

The other players came out from inside the ship one after another. As  expected even they were getting fed up by the shaking and the bad  weather.

Amidst that.

「Listen! We got too much free time and finished up this player  cannon! This was a trap to send player flying to far away, but the  player can arrange the landing location to some degree so it has high  accuracy too! Now, someone should wrap themselves in explosive and fly  away!」

The craftsmen group that was headed by Lighter brought out the brutal  weapon that they created. Nobody could guess just what they were  thinking creating something like that.

If they died on sea, their revival location would be in the ship that they rented from the guild.

But, there was also death penalty.

Ponsuke thought under the rain and wind.

(This guy, he finally made a damned human cannon.)

With the cannon, it would be possible to wrap a player in explosive  and blew away the pirates in one fell swoop――certainly, it was a  wonderful tool that was the peak of efficiency.

With this, it would be possible to defeat the pirates efficiently and obtained their treasures. Lighter was in great delight.

That was why, Ponsuke lifted Lighter up.

「……Ponsuke-kun, wait a second.」

Even Lighter had never expected to find himself getting used as the cannon’s bullet.

His complexion was worsening.

Blaze wordlessly started preparing the cannon to be fired. The other  players surrounded the craftsmen group and wrapped them in explosives.

「How can you do this to us powerless craftsmen!?」

The figure of a small gnome crying combined with Ponsuke’s orc appearance made him looked like a villain.

However, the surrounding was letting out cheers.

「Do it! Ponsuke-san, stuff that guy into the cannon!」

「Fly high, LIGHTERRRRR!」

「You fiends! Feel our rage a little!」

Blaze wrapped Lighter who was lifted up by Ponsuke with a ton of explosives.

「Blaze-kun, stop this!」

But, Blaze smiled at Lighter with eyes that lacked any highlight.

「Land properly on the enemy ship okay, Lighter-san. Well, we have a lot of spares though.」

Alfie was exasperated.

「In the first place, it’s the height of idiocy to lower the fighters’  level before the boss battle. Craftsmen won’t get their proficiency  level lowered just from dying right? Then, based on the process of  elimination it’s Lighter who should become the human bomb.」

Even the surrounding was creeped out seeing Alfie excitedly wrapping  bombs around her acquaintance in real life and stuffing him into the  cannon.

But, there were existences who felt moved seeing such scene.

It was the orcs.

「I’ll volunteer if the cannon’s size can allow even orc to get in.」

「Getting stuffed in, then fired out, what’s more with death penalty at the end……I’m trembling.」

「To do such thing to her own acquaintance IRL! As expected from her majesty!」

Lighter screamed.

「Wait a second! Lottery! We should decide who will be the bullet from drawing lottery!」

Ponsuke picked the method of deciding based on majority rule.

「Those who think Lighter-san should do it.」

Everyone raised their hand.

The players who were tormented by the daily quota and the craftsmen  who didn’t want to get their level lowered raised their hands.

「……You guys, I’ll never forget this」

Lighter who was saying those words got stuffed into the cannon by Ponsuke. Then Ponsuke mercilessly ordered the firing.

The trap activated and Lighter immediately flew toward the pirate ship.

The player could control their trajectory, so the accuracy was different from the normal cannon ball.

When Lighter landed on the pirate ship, there was a large explosion  that turned the pirate ship pitch black. It then floated lifelessly on  the sea.

The pirate ship and the monsters on it were finished off in one blow.

「……Isn’t the explosive’s amount insane?」

Ponsuke questioned what was in his mind. Then light particles converged on their ship and Lighter revived.

He was feigning tears

「Everyone is so crueeell!」

But Blaze lifted up Lighter.

「Eh?」

Blaze spoke to the surprised Lighter.

「Lighter-san……there’s one more ship.」

Ponsuke learned at this moment just how scary resentment toward one’s daily deed could be.

Ponsuke and co avoided the pirate ships and arrived to the pirate island.

The surrounding of the island was protected by a storm, but the island’s circumference was very calm.

The craftsman players hurriedly started preparing various things like tent and the like as soon as they arrived at the island.

It was to turn the beach into a base.

Naturally this kind of large quest had walkthrough about it.

However, the way each guild use to clear the quest could differ greatly.

Searching for the best clearing method on their own was also important for the players.

Amidst that, Ponsuke and co were planning to use a clearing method that was relatively reliable.

「Now then, let’s divide our party now.」

Blaze’s party that was usually acting together was kept as it was.

Blaze and his party had a balanced party composition. It had the advantage of being able to respond against any kind of monster.

They possessed greater than average strength and the guild relied on them a lot as combat strength.

Prey rotated his shoulder.

「Ponsuke-kun, we don’t mind getting split up but, if possible accompanying her majesties will be――」

Prey’s face got buried into the sand after Mariela kicked him.

「How dare you try being the one giving order here!」

However.

「Alfie will be with Nanako-chan’s party, while Mariela will be with the orc party. Please take care.」

Prey lifted up his face in shock when Ponsuke said that.

「Is that really alright!? Thank you, as I thought you’re really our compatriot orc.」

It wasn’t like Ponsuke decided that arrangement because he understood  their fetish, but because a tamer was needed to manage the orcs.

Because of that he had intended to assign either Alfie or Mariela to accompany the orcs.

「No, this is just the best option fighting strength-wise.」

In the first place, the orcs had a trump card in the form of Berserk.

They would change into rampaging monster with that skill, but Alfie  and Mariela could control the orcs when push came to shove as tamer.

Mariela was dumbfounded.

Alfie also looked dissatisfied, but she looked triumphantly at Mariela because she wasn’t the one who got saddled with the orcs.

「This is a lie.」

「Well, this too is because of the difference in our daily behavior. Mariela, do your best okay?」

Nanako, Sierra, and Guruguru were looking at Alfie with worried looks.

「Alfie-san, please do this seriously.」

「Even though I prefer being with Mariela-san」

「Alfie-neechan, man feel put off with you because you keep saying that kind of thing.」

Alfie wordlessly pinched Guruguru’s cheeks. Meanwhile Ponsuke kept giving orders one after another.

As the result, only Ponsuke, Inaho――and Lily were left behind.

Inaho was surprised.

「Eh, I’m in the same party with Ponsuke-san?」

Lily was similarly surprised.

「I thought the guild master would also move out as the main fighting force.」

Ponsuke also felt the same.

「No, that’s true but, it’s also necessary for a small party to defeat  the small fries so the other can concentrate with fighting the boss.」

A party with the role of defeating the popping out pirates was needed.

However, Ponsuke stayed behind to defeat those small fries while  protecting the base because they couldn’t prepare several parties just  for that.

Lily shrugged.

「What’s your reason for choosing us?」

Ponsuke answered her immediately.

「Because you two are fast.」

Lily looked at Ponsuke.

「……You look slow though.」

Then, Ponsuke grinned fearlessly and started bending and stretching  on the spot to make his wrists and ankles more limber. It was just game  avatar so he didn’t really need to do that, but it was a matter of  feeling.

「It’s troubling that you’re underestimating me like that. Please look, this is my strength after obtaining new power!」

Ponsuke used his hands and feet to run around the beach with amazing speed.

He jumped on the branch of a tree that was at the other side of the beach, and then he agilely jumped to another branch.

His movement was like a wild animal.

Inaho was dumbfounded. Prey explained to him.

「The new orc power――that is the wild strength! We have become even stronger now!」

Inaho rejoiced greatly.

「I-is that so? I don’t get it but, that sounds amazing somehow!」

The orc’s wild strength didn’t affect their status at all.

But, it was a type of power that increased their moving speed and  allowing them to enter part of the area that they couldn’t progress to  until then.

Lily looked at Ponsuke.

「How should I say this, it’s a power that doesn’t make feel any envy at all.」

The setting up of the base ended and then everyone started taking action to defeat the pirates.

Orc party.

The group was moving quickly inside the forest, while Mariela at the back had to give it her all just to not get left behind.

「What kind of joke is this! Why is an elf losing against orc inside the forest!?」

The orcs were travelling inside the forest like monkey.

Their moving speed wasn’t obstructed at all by going through inside the dense forest.

Dume jumped down from a tree to land in front of Mariela.

「Get on.」

Mariela looked at Dume’s back.

「Is that fine?」

「Yeah, but in exchange……t-this」

He handed her a stiletto.

Eyes that were filled with expectation. Dume was holding the stiletto on both his hands as he showed them to Mariela.

Mariela wordlessly equipped the stiletto and held her silver whip while getting on Dume’s back in an intentionally painful way.

「As expected from her majesty! You truly get i――ahihn!」

Mariela mercilessly swung down her whip on Dume who was paying her a compliment.

「Just move without saying anything. And don’t shake while moving. Shit……if only this is Ponsuke’s back!」

Mariela was complaining, but she looked extremely familiar with riding on an orc’s back.

The pirate island had  a round shape with a large mountain in the middle of it.

The big shots of the pirates were lying in watch at four spots of the  island. The guild members split into four groups to defeat them.

Ponsuke was fighting hard to protect the base while the others did that.

「Sei-!」

He swung and stabbed with his large cutlass, defeating the pirate  NPCs――the monsters one after another. But the problem was with the mood.

(It feels disquieting to fight against human shaped monster like this.)

It would be no problem if the monster had monstrous appearance, but this enemy had human form and spoke human language.

It made him felt strange fighting them.

Lily was behind Ponsuke. She was defeating the pirates one after another with hand guns in both hands.

「My, these pirates look more impactful than the ones in movie.」

She was reloading her guns quickly. For some reason her movement seemed to be practiced.

Inaho gave her applause to Lily.

「Lily-san, you’re like an actress in movie!」

Ponsuke also had the same opinion.

Lily had an appearance that he felt like he had seen from somewhere.

(Come to think of it, she was originally a player from sightseeing area, so her appearance must be from someone famous.)

Surely she had created an avatar that was modeled after a famous actress.

「Thanks for the help.」

Lily looked at her handguns with quite a pleased look.

「I’m also helped having someone drawing the enemy’s attention away from me. Even so, why an orc?」

Ponsuke answered with a laugh.

「This is the avatar that I used from the start. After that, I kept  using it until now somehow. It has a lot of demerits but, it also has  its own charm.」

Lily took a step back from Ponsuke.

「I-I see. I don’t want to say anything bad about other people’s hobby but, don’t expect too much from me okay?」

Ponsuke wanted to tell her that she misunderstood but, more pirates popped out so he headed toward that way.

Inaho also started running and quickly slashed the enemy with her weapon.

Rabbit girl almost had no trait that stood out, but their quickness was quite great.

An avatar that specialized in speed would be able to attack more rapidly. However, Ponsuke didn’t demand such thing.

「Nice job Inaho-chan!」

「Even I want to make a contribution!」

While they were protecting the base like that, players appeared one after another in it.

「Shit! That attack was just unfair!」

「We need to go until there again from here!?」

「Oi, shouldn’t we wait for the others?」

The players who died during battle received equipment maintenance and  item resupply from the support players before going to challenge the  boss again.

This time there were many rookies in their guild, so Ponsuke wanted to have them played the main part in challenging the boss.

(Perhaps I should make Inaho-chan and Lily-san do the same next time.)

Ponsuke and co were aiming to go to the frontline.

They still weren’t in the main part.

This guild quest was also something that doubled as training for the rookies.

Ponsuke cut down pirate with his cutlass while concerned whether things were going well or not with the boss fight.

(After this is over, it’ll be the Capital of Diligence soon. After  that it’ll be the Capital of Sincerity……it won’t be long before the  frontline.)

The frontline was a harsh environment, until the worlds that had been cleared.

Ponsuke kept defeating the monsters before him while thinking that he had to polish his player skill more.
