They've already mentioned it but the squad zero members are there to protect the soul king and the royal place and not soul society. it is the gotei 13s responsibility to defend the seiretei, that's why they are so casual about it. Let's say IF they were to help out the soul society and go down there, the royal place would be unguarded and enemies could easily break in. They have to do their job.
