Because Canute in S1 has the same eyes as thorfinn now and the current canute has the same eyes as thorfinn in S1.Which you can also see in their character, for example, canute in s1 was very frail and "innocent", which also applies to thorfinn now and vice versa.I like the way how that was portrayed.
