In baseball, bunting is mostly used to advance the runners with the cost of sacrificing one out. It is very hard to bunt and get on base safe unless you have super fast speed, which Kuramochi does all the time trying to bunt and get on base. Another case where you bunt to get on base is when the opponents have a very aggresive shift to the strong side of your hitting and have big open space which is good for bunting. Hope that helps
