If you aren't good enough regardless of being a genius or not they will change your position. If you don't except then you will only play maybe 15 min out of 90 unless you improve at a drastic rate to replace the starting player or you don't play. It's still a better option to change your favourite position so you can play become it provides you with a better opportunities to see the match form a different perspective. That doesn't mean you will give up or always play this position. So nothing is lost. Also the academies love to switch positions so that they can see if you have potential for other positions even if you don't like it it's for the benefit of the team. It's still your own choice but if you chose to accept you will gain a wider perspective of the sport ad be able to understand the frustration of your team mates better. It sucks in the moment but is beneficial for your future career.
