I know you’ve already finished the episode, but I thought I’d explain what an MT is. It stands for Membership Training and is a Korean office culture thing. It’s like a work retreat but has it’s own culture in Korea. It’s usually a mandatory overnight trip that involves lots of good food, lots of icebreakers and silly games and LOTS of drinking. Korea is all about teamwork and the collective so it’s a pretty regular team bonding thing. The boss or department head usually treats and they can be a lot of fun but also a bit pressing because you’re also basically forced to drink with your boss, but not embarrass yourself. MTs are a really common thing in Korea and even lots of people in college do them. Either within your year to like say bond all as freshman or within your major so everyone in that major across ages can bond. They do this MT theme a few times on Run and BTS always get so excited basically because they missed out on this big part of Korean culture because they became celebrities so young. It’s a chance for them to experience something ordinary that everyone else gets to do...only they have a film crew along recording everything.
