Oh I love the cash in so fucking much. As someone who was not a fan of Daniel Bryan then and still isn’t now, I so immensely enjoyed the hatred and vitriol this created. I always get a kick out of Triple H’s “Ring the bell! Now! Ring it!”

2025-08-18 14:56:02 +0000 UTCI remember when Josh watched this. People kept sending in matches where Cena lost and Josh was wondering “where is this Super Cena people are always talking about?” What’s old is new again. 12 years later Summer Slam ended more or less the exact same way. Punk will be coronated again at Wrestlemania, I’m sure. If I remember correctly the finish was surprising because as this was the debut of Bryan’s flying Busaiku knee finisher. And yes, this was a tease for later fun as the money was in the chase. And also yes, the wooden belt was used as a heel Bryan in 2019. Because the fans were FICKLE! That has never changed, lol.

2025-08-15 05:23:16 +0000 UTCI remember watching this show three days after my great grandmother passed away, and I watched it in her house as my family was getting her things together, the ending of the show didn’t do wonders for my already sour mood, though I don’t want to over exaggerate since I was genuinely fine, but still. I was surprised that Cena lost clean, and if I am remembering correctly, this is the first time Bryan used the running knee as a finisher, so I just wasn’t expecting it, and even though 2013 would be the first year I actually truly dove into non-WWE wrestling, at least from the current day, since I had seen some stuff from the companies that WWE had acquired over the years on some DVD releases that they put up on Netflix, it wasn’t until after this night for a month or two at least that I started watching TNA every week, so needless to say, I was completely devoid of the knowledge of Bryan‘s independent run. The turn at the end was genuinely shocking and if we do some revisionist history and pretend that it was the plan all along, it was a great beginning to what would lead to an awesome conclusion.
