There are things written in mid-80s Observers by either Meltzer or in the letters that make current Twitter fights look soft. Now, with TNA vs. WWE, TNA had far less of a presence (as I one former WWE guy once said, he was once asked in the airport if he was retired while in TNA by a fan) but also, while the TNA had the X-Division, it also had Vince Russo booking for a large chunk of the time period, so the real split was - WWE - The vast majority of fans and due to lack of availability of alternatives, the beginnings of backlash within the crowd) TNA - A small number of ardent defenders but mostly LOLTNA over their bad booking (which you don't really see though I'm tempted to find a really bad episode of Impact and upgrade to put that as my consideration). ROH - Very strong online, but online was far less important than so it may have been the best pure wrestling, but it was being done to 1500 people tops. In short, no matter what somebody tells you, there's always been online warring, it's just far less people were online in 1997.
