I agree about HHH and Randy, I don’t think they had one stand out match, which is a shame, considering how great their feud was in 2009. as far as John Cena and HHH, I don’t know, he definitely is not an all-time John Cena opponent for sure, I thought the matches were passable, I remember the one at wrestlemania XXII being good.

2025-03-15 09:51:06 +0000 UTCYeah, I remember that a lot of the attitude era fans that were holdovers and still watching hated that feud, but all of us who grew up with it would kill to see it again one last time this year, it’s amazing what difference a little over a decade can make. Yeah, I think their feuds over the years were good, but it’s like every time Cena had a feud with one of his main ops from that era like Randy Orton or Edge, someone else was always inserted, at least when those matches were happening at wrestlemania, like HHH and the Big Show were. The CM Punk one was awesome, and I think it’s so memorable especially because we did not get matches like that in that era, but I do think the AJ match was a little bit better, like I said, I think he is Cena‘s best in ring opponent, I don’t think anyone could ever top Edge though overall.

2025-03-15 04:11:25 +0000 UTCI say the punk cena raw match where winner faced rock was as good as this match one of best raw matches ever also the iron-man with Orton was really good and there cell matches cena and Orton had good chemistry but the problem was most there matches happened in a 2 year period few times in 07 mania 24 3 way with hhh and then most of 2009 but was a good feud I think after the 09 long year feud everyone just didn't wanna see them face again

I mentioned in your omega Okada match watch along that there was a special feature to this match that most people don’t notice, and of course I didn’t notice until I heard about it, but Cena and AJ decided that for the entirety of this match, they weren’t going to leave the ring to prove that you didn’t have to do that, even in 2017, to have an tremendous match. They never left the ring, I guess if you think about it, AJ kind of did to do the moves on the apron, but they never once went to the floor, no dives, no crowd brawling or using the steps or the security barricade, no announce table spots, nothing, just pure and simple professional wrestling excellence. I do think the Omega Okada match was superior, but the never leaving the ring thing to me makes this match in at least that respect a bit more impressive. This was so fun to attend live, this was in my Cena hater era, even though he had been my favorite wrestler when I was a little kid, but this match just goes so hard bro! I love when Cena hits the AA and then does that rolling thing to pick a guy back up and does the second one, it looks so freaking impressive every time he does it! I believe that Edge is John Cena‘s greatest opponent of all time as far as overall feuds go, but nobody, not Kevin Owens, not CM Punk, not Randy Orton, not Edge, not anyone could ever touch the pure in ring chemistry that John Cena had with AJ Styles. just a goaded match overall and I’m so happy that y’all have some lore now for what hopefully will be a revisited John Cena AJ feud at some point this year. 2025-03-13 23:37:55 +0000 UTCA thing that always gets underestimated is how adaptable Cena was and continues to be He was perfect as a seller and powerhouse wrestler in 2007-11(especially 2007 what a year for him) But around Punk and that feud he started to change Both character wise and human being wise he had to learn how to keep up So he started throwing out sloppy high flying super workrate moves to keep up with "the indie invasion" which was everyone from Punk, Danielson, Cesaro, Owens, etc.) I always consider Styles the second best of that bunch feud wise And watching Cena evolve in real time was such a treat to behold

Even if he wasn't their biggest star once Christian and Angle went to TNA, AJ was still the definitive TNA guy when TNA was at its height. Cena was the face of WWE in that same time period. Sure, this match was a decade later, but it was still a big deal.

2025-03-13 22:47:45 +0000 UTCTo be completely honest, I’m really not a big John Cena guy, I have nothing personal against him and I understand that he is important to a lot of people’s childhoods and formative wrestling years, but in the time I have experienced wrestling (circa 2021-Now) and all I’ve consumed from the past with retrospect, he’s just not one of my favourites by any stretch. BUT, the final three years of his full time career (2015-17) is by far my favourite and probably considered best run of his whole career, his US Invitational is one of the best mid-card title reigns of all time and his series with AJ is the best of his career from a pure in ring perspective, I think when it comes to in ring chemistry, it’s Cena/Styles or Cena/Punk for who is Cena’s best in ring rival. If anything else, Cena has earned my respect for this time of his career above all else, Cena’s Superworker era is just awesome
