It was my first time watching NJPW from the crowd, and I took my girlfriend with me, she's not into Puroresu, but she loved that match from start to finish. (the rest of the show, not so much, to long for a non wrestling fan) It was just an epic fight, an unbelievable heel version of Omega against a beaten-down babyface Will Ospreay. My favorite match of 2023, no contest. Honestly, I was all in the moment I heard the One Winged Angel intro from FF VII. P.S.: To all foreign fans : please clean your seat when the show is over

2025-02-23 06:21:22 +0000 UTCThe story of this match was quite literally Omega saying something like "You ain't shit Ospreay and I blame you for NJPW for becoming less popular after I left, because you're trash compared to me" in promos ahead of it. And then he ended up destroying Ospreay, which was pretty crazy at the time. That basically set up the sequel where Ospreay cheated and joined the callis family.

Kenny was the ruthless and ospreay was bumping like crazy. I prefer this over the Forbidden Door match cuz this is better paced and structured and doesn't have the stupid Don Callis interference

My only request is more of Omega & Ospreay's (especially Omega's) New Japan stuff during the company's golden era & their separate Wrestle Kingdom runs. Another wish is that though i know there's a limit of content duration, i still hope you guys will make an exception for the legendary Okada - Omega series, especially when there's rumor they will face each other at All In this year.

2025-02-22 18:10:33 +0000 UTCIt’s honestly hard for me to pick between the forbidden door or Wrestle Kingdom match. I like that the FD match was more evenly matched and personally really enjoyed Will heeling it up in Canada and avenging his loss, the back and forth action itself I think is a bit better. But on the other hand, the story of Ospreay getting little bro’d by Kenny, that slow feeling of dread as every time Will started to get some ground, Kenny shuts him down in his tracks. I just found it utterly compelling, and it totally makes the FD match feel more satisfying as Will doesn’t let Kenny bully him, and goes in with the chip on his shoulder, and ends up winning, in Kenny’s home country, in his home promotion and getting his title back, all that is great, and the moment to moment Action, again, I think is a little better in the second one, I’m not a big fan of the Callis interference in the FD match but it doesn’t take away much if at all from the match, just an element I enjoy less, while the WK match is near perfect, some can argue it feels longer despite both matches are similar length, but I don’t mind, the slower, more intense vibe of the WK match. But at the end of the day, it’s two of the best of the modern era having two awesome matches, one of which literally happening less than a week into the new year. Kenny returning to New Japan to have awesome, boarderline match of the year candidate’s in the early goings of the year, twice is so wonderful
