To help you distinguish lariat from clothesline, think of it like this. If you run into a clothesline (like a line that clothes are hanging from) you will get knocked down, because it is stationary and you are moving. A lariat instead is an attack that is moving at you to take you down. Arm stationary, like a stiff arm in football, clothesline. Arm swinging, like a punch, lariat.

2024-12-10 00:48:10 +0000 UTCThe difference between a clothesline and a lariat is that a clothesline is more of a takedown, usually while running, and a lariat is more like a strike to the head or chest, usually while standing. Something that should be noted is that a lariat is historically a finisher or at least a near fall type of move, in Japan.

2024-11-23 02:39:58 +0000 UTCI suddenly would really like to see Kenta Kobashi in his prime vs Gunther

2024-11-23 02:33:06 +0000 UTCglad you guys enjoyed this one a lot. Kenta Kobashi is one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, probably top 5 in all honesty

2024-11-22 10:15:00 +0000 UTCI was thinking of sending in either Dr Death vs Kobashi 93 or Vader vs Kobashi Champion Carnival 99. But if a few people come together to make somewhat of a sensical Kings Road order I'd be dwn.

2024-11-21 12:47:51 +0000 UTCI know essentially nothing about Kobashi other than he is famed for being one of All Japan’s Four Pillars. And that I’ve watched a match between him and I think it him vs Mitsuharu Misawa and I wasn’t that impressed. I want to like these guys but that match just didn’t do it for me. I hope this is different.

2024-11-21 00:46:08 +0000 UTCOh I've already checked out Joseph's and that's what I'm following Problem is My discord refuses to connect to my Patreon so I'm sorta screwed there lol

2024-11-21 00:39:58 +0000 UTCI think you can talk to people in their discord if you want to plan out requests with people in chronological order. Misawa vs Tsuruta would be one good introduction, another would be the Hansen vs Kobashi match you mentioned. Kawada & Taue vs Kobashi and Misawa at super power series 95 is considered by many as the best AJPW match ever, and it contains all 4 pillars. You could check out the "walking the kings road" youtube series if you want inspiration.

2024-11-21 00:37:23 +0000 UTCYes, Kenta Kobashi is one of Gunthers favorite wrestlers 😅

2024-11-20 23:50:35 +0000 UTCOh, I totally forgot about that bit before the finish was this match! So when KENTA had Kobashi up on his shoulders, he was trying to hit a Carry Knee Strike that he invented as his finisher. It's called the Go 2 Sleep, a name/move you'll probably recognize because CM Punk stole it and popularized it in the states, lol. KENTA was *probably* the most influential wrestler of the early 2000s, with a large number of American Wrestlers taking influence from his style and the moves he created, especially the early Ring of Honor crop (some of whom he's more happy with than others). He wasn't always a huge fan of Punk using the GTS because once he ended up in WWE, Americans recognized it as "Punk's Move" so he wasn't allowed to use it. Then when he did, the person he was doing it to didn't take the move properly, so they got hurt. Then he especially wasn't allowed to. Bryan Danielson's Running Busaiku Knee strike is also a KENTA original, but they "traded" moves. Bryan started doing the knee and KENTA started using Bryan's Lebell Lock submission.

2024-11-20 22:54:25 +0000 UTCThat was more due to being sick. We didn't do anything on Sunday since that was the only day we were both feelin like ass.

2024-11-20 21:52:33 +0000 UTCThey have not and I'm still tryna figure out my approach to this because I want to send in a couple matches that work best(Misawa/Kobashi, Holy Demon Army/Super Generation army, Hansen/Kobashi) and just go from there

2024-11-20 20:08:01 +0000 UTCYou saying that last thing made me realize that no one has sent in a 90s All Japan match yet to my memory, which is pretty surprising. Getting stuff like Rings before Kings Road AJPW is certainly unconventional lol (not that I'm complaining)

2024-11-20 20:04:42 +0000 UTCthis KENTA guy looks a lot like Hideo Itami 🤔

2024-11-20 19:44:26 +0000 UTCThis is that real shit brother Okay so I love these two lmao Kobashi especially but KENTA's style of "I'll put you down and you'll like it prick" is so fun(I think if the submissions are correct we'll see more of him here in about 6 hours) Kobashi however just tends to be my fucking guy, easily watchable, a great seller and storyteller, and very giving to his opponents when with his status he could easily not do that. Considering I plan on bringing you both upon "The Kings Road" next month(you'll understand when I explain next month) you'll probably be seeing a lot more of him. Glad y'all enjoyed this one!

2024-11-20 18:21:28 +0000 UTCAs if it's not more noticeable to both of you, yes Kobashi's style is so similar to Gunther, or more correctly, Gunther (himself admitted in an interview) admires & inspired by Kobashi & his way of wrestling, including his knife-edge chops. Both have their body built almost identical to each other, ofc til Gunther decided to lose weight & keep fit once he arrived to the main roster.

2024-11-20 17:55:31 +0000 UTCI'm just curious but was you being sick the reason why there wasn't a monday night war episode reaction on monday? Or is it because there are a bunch of tally tiers
