I had to pause because I'm gonna defend Santino Marella (or snake guy, as you called him) here. He was a comedy gimmick. He was basically what R-Truth is now, a family-friendly character to attract children and make cheap laughs, and he was damn good at it. He was hilarious and his interactions with people like Beth Phoenix are amazing. It would be great to see you go look at some Santino highlights because there are some really good ones. I won't deny that there are definitely some parts that are terrible (Santina Marella) but he did a good job playing that character. He was never really a threat to the title picture and he didn't really win that often but he didn't have to. You weren't supposed to take him or the Cobra (his finishing move where he puts a sock on his arm and strikes you like a snake) seriously. You were supposed to laugh at him. He was over with a lot of the fans and he is definitely one of the better comedy characters WWE ever did.

They've been a consistent fixture since: in TNA, Japan, the Indies, and even had a match in AEW. According to cagematch they've been in 400+ matches as a tag team. They've also had 85 matches as opponents in some form. So yeah, they're pretty familiar with each other lol. About as well as any two wrestlers can be I guess.
