So! A wee update for you all.
I submitted Neon Black to my first choice of publisher earlier this week. Today I heard back from them and they basically said, "No thanks, but..."
They sent me over an extensive list of suggestions and critical feedback on the manuscript. They would like to see the principles of the game better reflected in Neon Black's mechanics, and see more innovation on the core rules I adapted from Blades in the Dark.
I'll need to make some pretty extensive rewrites for them to consider taking another look, but luckily I mostly agree with their feedback and I think the game will be stronger if I can implement some of their changes. I have no idea how long that will take to design, write, test, and iterate so it could be at least a few months before I have a revised manuscript.
I'll be focusing on that for the foreseeable future. I will also be releasing that social media storytelling game I was talking about earlier, now called Story Time Frames. That should be on my itch page sometime this weekend for $5 (and free access to all $5+ patrons as usual). Also, Story Time Frames is the first game I laid out using Affinity Publisher. Look at me! Using publishing tools like a real designer!
Over the next week I'll know whether or not my submission to the Trophy Gold contest won. If it did, that's awesome. If not, I'll lay out what I have, slap some creepy graphics on it, and sell it as a module on itch.
