Yeah draft in October/November was dumb. That’s why in 2019 the rosters ended up so fucked for most of the year because they were waiting until SmackDown moved to Fox to do the draft instead of just doing it after Mania.

And so he wouldn’t get done for roids

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

Brock was actually a lot bigger during his first WWE run than he is now Physically. He slimmed down a lot for his MMA career so he could move better and have a more athletic build as opposed to a body builder.... build?

Nicholas Kramer

This is my favourite Survivor Series match.

Abs Ali

I mean yeah, but there's also the demo that grew up 2002-2008 when the raw and smackdown had two world titles that were actually presented as equals so they adopt that mentality whereas everything past 2008 pretty much was the wwe title or nothing.

Chad

I like the idea of raw vs smackdown. It's great for a show like Crown Jewel for example, but I didn't like that Survivor Series was being used as the raw vs smackdown show. I prefer Survivor Series to stay as a war games centric show.

Chad

Yeah, I always liked the draft being after Wrestlemania

Christopher Barnes

One of my issues with the Raw vs Smackdown Survivor series is that usually it was right after the draft so some wrestlers were fighting for the "honor" of a brand they had been on for less than a month.

Adam Nelson

I think another demo are the people who grew up with there only being 1 World champion. So they think the WWE champion should automatically be #1 and WHC #2. Some younger fans adopt that mentality from older fans. I'm personally fine with 2 world champions, because that's what I grew up with. WHC was always defacto #2, but you don't pick up on that as a kid.

.

I think one reason the IWC in particular are so vocally against champion vs champion is if they think their favorite wrestler is going to lose and be the "secondary champion". It might actually be that simple. This match in particular didn't have as much of this attitude from the IWC, because it was so obvious that Brock would win due to how strongly he was booked. So people instead just focus on Brock vs AJ being an actual dream match.

.

That's why I they should bring back Bragging Rights. They still do the matches, but at least you know, they don't really win anything besides "Bragging Rights" and a trophy.

Christopher Barnes

The most famous clip is probably the one of him doing it while wearing a red singlet in probably late 2001

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

People also started getting extremely bored of his style of match as well.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

Extremely underrated seller too. When he wanted to he could make others look like a million bucks. My mind always goes back to the chokeslam Taker gave him in 03 where Lesnar got crazy air from it.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

Brock had really good chemistry with a couple smaller guys. Their styles, no pun intended, worked so well with Lesnars.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

I intend on suggesting an underrated brand vs brand elimination match for next months tally tier.

I liked the SmackDown vs Raw theming of Survivor Series too, my biggest issue is they never had stakes. With Vince never having any vision for anything even if they did add stakes like the winning brand got number 30 in the Rumble, the Mania main event or first draft picks, you know they would have dropped that before getting there. A few years ago I thought a cool idea would have been for the winning men’s and women’s teams to face off in a multi person elimination match at the next PPV/PLE, dependant on how many people survived, with the winner getting the number 30 spot in the Rumble. Otherwise if just one person survived they’d automatically get it. For the tag teams multi team match the winners could get guaranteed spots in the Rumble match since tag teams don’t always end up in it.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

Oh yeah this is a damn good match. It starts off like a Brock match that a lot of people were getting sick of at the time and then they just flipped the switch and it got really good, really quick. You guy also have a Brock vs Seth match to react to soon and let’s just say, for the most part, in his second run, Brock had great chemistry with smaller guys.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

This was in the era where Vince didn't want commentators to refer to the refs by their names because Vince thought knowing their names would... distract from the wrestling? It's in a similar vein as him telling the ring announcers to just keep talking when announcing the competitors, during the time where crowds would chant "One Fall" before the match because he thought crowds would have a limit on pops. Also, it was Brock's title that 'buried' AJ's. The universal title was changed to a blue strap when the 2 titles swapped brands.

Dylan Thomas Banks

Yeah alot of fan don't want him back

SwantonAtomBomb

They had those suplex city signs as t-shirts. If they were in a city, they would put the city under it. I was always in the minority that liked the Smackdown vs Raw aspect at Survivor Series. That's why I always said they should bring back the Bragging Rights PPV/PLE. They even did it in October before Survivor Series and still did another traditional 5-man tag team match. I liked this concept because when you have a PLE like this, you can see matchups that you don't normally see, because of the brand split. When they did the first brand split in 2002, you rarely seen any RAW/Smackdown talent interact. I always felt they did the first brand split the best. At the same time though, WWE's roster was stacked in 02'/03' with people coming in from ECW & WCW after it ended on top of the stars that were already in the WWE.

Christopher Barnes

I think the Crown Jewel idea is fine. And besides, probably wasn’t all WWE’s decision. Thinking of it kinda like a Super Bowl or any major sports championship. Gives us a matchup we don’t see otherwise, like you said.

Kam

I always enjoyed survivor series brand vs brand matches, and sometimes they even progressed the narrative as well so that doesn’t always need to be the problem. the Team Lesnar vs Team Angle SS 2003 match was one of my favorites, as well as the brand vs brand matches in 2019 because that’s the only one that NXT was included in!

Woozie

For the record I am VERY happy y'all enjoy Brock as when he's locked in very few are better Code of warning he should not be back like you said tho He was named in the Janel Grant-Vince McMahon sex trafficking lawsuit so...yeah

Paul Watson

I don’t mind matches just existing for the sake of a bit of fun and not really mattering in the long run. And that’s how Triple H has treated most Saudi shows since Crown Jewel 2022 with Logan Paul vs Roman Reigns. What I’m not a huge fan of is the “brand supremacy” stuff, because at the end of the day it’s just two vaguely different parts of the same company fighting over T-Shirts. And it causes storylines to be either paused, completely ignored, or, at worst, contradicted.

Ryan Redd

There aren’t many people Brock enjoys wrestling, but AJ is one of them. Earning Brock’s respect and being liked by him is not an easy thing to do. You can count the amount of wrestlers he genuinely enjoys wrestling on 1 hand.

Gai Valentine

To me, the problem with the champ vs champ matches at Crown Jewel is that it just felt forced or thrown together just for the hell of it, with the prize just being...another title that wont be defended(i assume). The champ vs champ matches in Survivor Series had stakes, which was brand supremacy, thts why it felt more exciting. I wasnt worried abt anyone getting buried because the bigger picture was who the better brand will be that night. Even if one loses, the loss is still against the best of each brand, so I dont see it as them getting buried. We would also often end up getting matches we rarely see, which is already a win for us fans. Especially when NXT joined the fray in 2019, we got matches like Viking Raiders vs New Day vs Undisputed Era (tag champs of their respective brand) or Roderick Strong vs Nakamura vs AJ Styles (midcard champs of their respective brands). These matches wouldve never been possible had it not been for Survivor Series.

Izz002

Brock had a bit of a reputation of being lazy in some of his matches around this time. But the truth is, when he actually tried, there wasn’t really a better wrestler on the roster.

Ryan Redd

I was not a fan of Smackdown vs Raw because it felt so forced at the time. There was no rivalry all year then ever November we where supposed to believe they suddenly had a brand rivalry only for everyone to forget about it as soon as survivor series was over. I don't have a problem with Crown Jewel because they aren't treating it as some rivalry that never existed before it feels much more like a one off thing which I like

Drew Or Die

Anyways AWESOME match Brock vs any of the smaller wrestlers is amazing. Even though i hate the raw vs smackdown concept

Phillyman!!

I didn’t plan this for crown jewel just kind of worked out, also that catch into the F-5 was beautiful

Jakob Micheal

Absolutely

Phillyman!!

Yeah there are clips online of him hitting it in OVW. He just messed up the one that counted the most

Drew Or Die

https://m.youtube.com/shorts/nSftrwWN6ms A prefect one

Phillyman!!

I know he botched it at WM 19. But Brock did a perfect shooting star press in dark matches he officially debuted.

Phillyman!!

The worst thing about AJ's injury other than the obvious. He might miss Cena's retirement tour meaning we won't get to see those two run it back one more time
