So I’m seeing a lot of people here saying that this was Vince trying to stick up for Trump but in reality, that doesn’t really seem to be the case. This was, in storyline at least, intentionally bad television put on by Vince to in storyline stick up for Trump, but in storyline Trump hated it and told Vince that it was really stupid and cringe, Vince would get offended that Trump didn’t like his little display and this would begin the build for wrestlemania. A few weeks after this would take place and Vince would hear that Trump didn’t like it, they would begin the build for the battle of the billionaires at that wrestlemania which would see Vince pick a wrestler and Trump pick a wrestler, and which ever wrestler lost, the billionaire that they represented would have to have their head shaved. No matter what you think about Trump, most people do agree he did a very good job during the feud playing his part. I think whether you love or hate Trump, everyone and anyone who knows even the tiniest bit about wrestling can admit that he uses pro wrestling like promos in order to hype up his base, and guys, please hear me, I am not saying that it’s a good thing or a bad thing, but the point is, that given that, it really wasn’t shocking to anybody that he was good in his role back in 2007. I won’t spoil too much about the match itself just in case it ever gets recommended, but I will leave you with this fun fact, the battle of the billionaires between Trump and McMahon was, and because of the way things are now will probably always be, the most purchased wrestling pay-per-view of all time. Trump VS McMahon did more buys than The Rock VS John Cena, then any Stonecold match, more than any Hulk Hogan match, which, I find to be eminently hilarious.

2024-10-16 17:01:25 +0000 UTCDefinitely one of the more embarrassing moments to be a professional wrestling fan. Vince embarrassing himself in an attempt to bolster his rich friend's ego. What an absolute farce.

2024-10-16 16:19:37 +0000 UTCThe total context is that I'm a newer Patreon supporter. I have not yet gotten caught up on your reactions. I wanted to submit a match that I was 100 percent sure you hadn't seen yet. I watched this live in high school and I remembered it being cringy. Donald and Rosie had a very public war of words and Vince wanted to stand up for his billionaire buddy. They advertised it the week before with no context except the graphic with their faces on it.
A bird in the hand, is worth Drew in the bush.

2024-10-16 15:14:11 +0000 UTCFun fact: ‘Donald Trump’ in this match was played by indie wrestler Ace Steel. He’s more known these days for being CM Punk’s best friend and infamously biting Kenny Omega in AEW’s Brawl Out fiasco. Imagine biting someone in a fight like wtf.
