It was one of the Attitude Era/Monday Night War docs

At some point she decided to put more focus on running her promotion in Japan, but still gets checks from WWE

Satomura is still signed to WWE. We just don’t know what she’s doing.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

The other semifinal match is Rhea vs Io Shirai. Both were intruded to wwe audiences by this tournament

The 2 years tournament introduced a lot of the current wwe female superstars. And almost didn't happen before the first year started Vince almost pulled the plug on it because he felt some of the woman didn't meet his appearance standards for the divas.

Karen

Meiko went on to be the woman's champion in NXT UK and has wrestled a few times on NXT. I believe Mercedes went to Japan and studied with her after leaving wwe.

Karen

I gotta find that again lol

Dport

When did I ask that? lol

Dport

It would be super cool to find a way to do a tournament watch through for the Mae Young classic tournaments and the Cruiserweight Classics. They mainly consisted of NXT talent and independent stars, quite a few that may be familiar to you now.

And she apparently waited to be power bombed by bubba off the cage lmaooo bad ass woman 🔥🔥🔥

Phillyman!!

Since your question wasn't answered in the video, Mae Young was a legendary female wrestler who got her start in the 1940s and had occasional appearances in WWE up to 2013 (including being power bombed through a table by Bubba Ray Dudley when she was in her 70s.

Adam Nelson

Remember when you ask,"Who Grandma did they powerbomb?" That was Mae Young.

Arome 64

Yeah, if only Dakota and Tegan could keep their legs from getting hurt. They both have a history of that.

Adam Nelson

Nice. That was on my list to recommend at some point too, but I probably wasn't going to get to it until early next year.

Adam Nelson

Wait till next month, Bailey vs Meiko from the Japan tour this summer

Karen

She is 44 years old and can still go with the top group

Karen

For the 2 years they did the Mae Young Classic and the cruiserweight classic, they mainly used either indie talent or nxt talent. So short answer, No, meiko has not been in WWE before this

Matthew Harvey

This was during the era before WWE was on peacock. At the time they had all their content on a service they ran called the WWE Network. NXT and NXT UK ran weekly on it alongside shows like 205 Live and etc. I think they produced quite a few tournaments and events specifically for the service. They had a lot more wrestlers on the roster back then, So I guess this was a way to showcase them. Though in the case of the Mae Young Classic and the Cruiseweight Classic they allowed wrestlers who weren't signed to compete.

Meiko's career actually goes all the way back to even appearing in WCW! It's certainly a shame we didn't see her more in WWE TV now that she's retiring, she has actually been signed for years now but she has her own promotion in Japan which is what I assume has kept her appearances sparse (she actually wrestled Bayley for the WWE Title a couple of months ago in their tour to Japan!!!). Plus, she was originally "The Final Boss" before The Rock was named that in his feud with Cody haha. On a small correction, Michael Cole actually got her finisher's name wrong🤓☝️it's Scorpio Rising, not Scorpion Kick, the latter being Dakota Kai's signature move

Flair

That scorpion kick was sick. Whenever Dakota comes back, I gotta keep an eye out for it

https://youtu.be/-jPUQB_Moj4?si=xwlAtxutI410moA6 yeah

Meiko is so good. Even the way she wrenches in the headlock is better than what we see from most. Both were awesome here. Would be cool if toni brought back her version of the STF aswell. Looked great. Great match. I think Dakota kai does a version of the scorpion kick but it's from a standing position. I think it's called that anyways

Diruroru

Your Vince comment had me rolling
