Like there’s more than one Diddy and it took seeing him for them to realize who it was.

The tagline “Once in a Lifetime” was brilliant marketing. Too bad they fucking knew they were doing it again the next year.

I've been going back to watch a few of these I missed. Man, I always forget how terrible Cena's STF is until I see it. I really wish he would retire it and use a submission that actually looks decent. I would say he should learn how to do it properly but he's been doing it for like 20 years so there's no way he's gonna fix how he does it. Same with Rock's sharpshooter. There are ways to make those moves look good but these two definitely don't do them well.

Forgot about Diddy's involvement lmao.

This match had big fight feel like so few matches have ever had. If they had just left it and not done the rematch at Mania XXIX I think this would be more fondly remembered.

CFO$ wasn’t all that bad honestly, cause threw out the years they had so much good bangers like Sasha Banks, The Shield, Undisputed Era, Ciampa Johnny Gargano and alot more, Jim Johnston totally ya he’s the king.

Flo Rida was basically the host of WrestleMania 28 and the theme song for Mania’s song for 28 was Flo Rida’s And the songs from back in the day, for example The Rocks old song from the 90s The rock actually recorded and song it, and John Cena recorded and song all of his songs in wwe, his Basic thuganomics and the one now.

Watching that opening "packige" is hilarious. All these boys talking about why Mania is the greatest show ever, Cena, Rock, "Once-in-a-Lifetime,TM" E-P-I-C. Sure Shawn. Absolutely nothing about the actual story that played out on TV. And the reason why was because it consisted of John getting dickslapped by the Rock while he called him a fruity-pebble-Pee-Wee-Herman-yabba-dabba-candy-ass. Cole calls this "the greatest Mania main event of all time," cause of course he does, but I've never been that big a fan of this match. I don't dislike either of these guys. And I've had WM28 on DVD for 12 years. But I've never gone back to watch this one. Something about it bored the crap outta me. In hindsight, the reality is that 2012 was just prime World Wrestling Propaganda. And Vince had Rock in his hands and he was gonna milk him for all he was worth. Didn't this Mania break records for PPV buys or sumn? Yeah, it became like the most bought WrestleMania of all time. Crazy how Vince made so many bad decisions during Cena's run from 2005 all the way up to this show. And then the Rock comes back, ruins Mania 27, and, nevertheless, sells one of the biggest wrestling shows of all time. This was the first WM main event John Cena was in that he downright lost. Punk and Bryan were world champions. This felt like a time of change and a breath of life in the WWE when it so desperately needed it after a pisspoor entry into the PG era. As a young fan brand new to wrestling, this felt like a world where the old gaurd were falling and the young lions were rising up to take their place. For as much as I have come to love Bryan Danielson, I dug Sheamus too at the time. And hey if not for the 18-second L he took on this show, we never would have gotten Team Hell No. Mania 28 was dictated by Mania 27, and Mania 29 never should've happened, but perhaps we never would have gotten Mania XXX if not for all three of them. I hope this was coherrent. Great job, DPORT.

. the DANIMAL .

That's awesome

My first Mania main event. Got a lot of nostalgia for this one.

. the DANIMAL .

And of course I don’t deny that def Rebel can do a great theme song! I appreciate their work especially with the Samoans!

TheBlueOne

I agree that the older songs are strongly influenced by nostalgia. I’m partially also the victim of it. However to be perfectly fair I rate artists by their average performance. And (for me): average CFO$ theme song (2012-2020) is a lot better than average def Rebel theme song (2020-2024). It’s just my music taste and what I’m looking for as a wrestling fan, I can’t help it 🤷‍♂️ And we can’t forget that at the time CFO$ was also strongly hated because of comparing it to Jim Johnston’s work

TheBlueOne

I can’t stop laughing lmao 🤣🤣🤣

TheBlueOne

Thank you! Tally grooms his hair herself.

Dport

As a former owner of a Shih-Tzu I have to admit that Maxx looks absolutely adorable!!!

TheBlueOne

That Diddy moment slayed me lol

The rock hadn’t had a match since wrestlemania in 2004. In 2011 he hosted mania, they annouced the rock vs cena match on the following night on raw and this was a year later in 2012. CM Punk referenced this match in his pipebomb promo as one of his gripes he had with the company. Also if you saw the poster for mania 29 you’d know this was not “once in a lifetime” lol Sheamus’ 18 second win was against Daniel Bryan. Which is probably the original start of the yes movement as people were not happy about it despite him being a heel at the time

David

That video package gave zero context to how heated this feud was😂😭

Shaun Carpenter

“The fact that Dwayne is in the main event of WrestleMaina next year and I’m not makes me sick.” CM Punk.

Abs Ali

Sheamus's 18 second title win was against Daniel Bryan which is what started the crowd getting behind him.

Nicholas Kramer

I think one thing that the video packaged kinda ignored, which maybe was asked for by the talent or vince, is that it overlooks how heated the build was. Rock would very much cater to everyone who wasn't a kid by mocking and deconstructing the super-cena persona. To the point that they got real heat.

.

they were chanting fruity pebbles bc the rock made fun of how cena would change his gear through a bunch of colors. He called him fruity pebbles lmao

Jayshawn Robinson

the rock left in like 04 all the way til a year before this match in 2011, did a year long build up to this match.

Jayshawn Robinson

Cena is from Massachusetts. I think that shirt Cena was wearing was based on the Celtics that he started wearing for a while starting at WrestleMania 28. They would usually match his tron with the T-Shirt he was wearing.

Christopher Barnes

“Once in a lifetime” Lmaooo 😂😂😂😂
