I actually think all the matches she's had with people I rate highly have been good. Willow, Vaquer, multiple Stardom women. Some of those stardom matchs were extremely high paced. It's the matches with people I don't rate highly in the ring that have been bad or mid. Britt, Shida, Nyla. But I agree that her lack of activity has impacted her. Same with Shida, I used to rate her highly.

But as you said, they worked around her weaknesses. Mercedes should not be cutting long solo in-ring promos, that's like telling Braun Strowman and Bronson Reed to have a 60 minute submission only iron-man match, that's not what they are good at.

2024-09-27 10:35:20 +0000 UTCSome people online seem to overhype the mostly green AEW women's roster, likely driven by the morally just desire to see women get more TV time and a chance to develop. Mercedes had a good match with Willow in NJPW and AEW, who I think is one of the handful complete AEW women talents. Mercedes will likely have good matches with people like Jamie Hayter too. Some mention Hikaru Shida, but I find her overrated in the ring, she hasn't actually had that many good matches in AEW since 2021. So I wasn't surprised that neither of their matches were that good. Tony Khan hasn’t focused as much on signing top women’s wrestlers, possibly because he didn’t grow up following women’s wrestling

2024-09-26 02:48:42 +0000 UTCYh the only title run sasha had where she didn't lose it straight after was when she beat bayley for it then I believe defended it 3 times until loing it to be lair which josh covered once against bayley and twice against carmella and that tlc match they had was really good by far carmella best match I seen her have her and sasha had good chemistry

2024-09-26 00:15:40 +0000 UTCOne of the reasons for the disconnect with Mercedes in AEW is that she isn't produced well enough on the mic. From I understand they brought in creative talent from WWE to work with her, but it doesn't feel the same. The WWE machine seemed to be working its magic on her. The other one is in the ring. She hasn't been wrestling the same caliber of women's wrestler in AEW. Most observers have noticed the quality of her matches in the ring is a lot higher when she wrestles for New Japan. She's getting to face better in ring opponents there and she gets to shine in the ring again. She was arguably the best of the horsewomen in the ring and stood out for that always.

I'm definitely gonna consider using a Tally Tier submission for their October 2016 match on raw. Can't remember what date but I'll definitely go back and look for it. I think it was October 3, 2016 or something but I'll go back to make sure.

Sasha despite being a highflyer isn't really ready for aew's speedy style of wrestling, her new character feels like Mercedes Mone playing a biopic version of Sasha Banks, and she was out of action for two years following wwe so not constantly wrestling has definitely weighed on her in-ring performance more than anything. Definitely all of these have played a factor in her not being as good as she used to be.
