This was great but it would be a lot if fun if it was The Vince McMahon documentary series next. Not spoiling anything but I've seen the first episode and I think it was really good. One of those " I can't wait to watch the next episode"

Jennifer Lindgren

Gorilla Monsoon was the on screen authority figure

One thing that they don't touch upon enough IMO is how the timing of the Montreal screw job played a part in all this. Prior to that, you would only hear Vince on commentary like in your Yokozuna v Bret Hart watch along, and that was all he was known for. There was another character who was known as the president of the company, and he would only appear in videos in a boardroom (I'm forgetting his name) putting matches together and making decisions but Vince was literally just an announcer on TV. The Montreal Screw Job, when Bret spat in his face, is when everyone realized Vince was the actual president and that he was kind of an asshole. That happened to be happening right as Austin was rising. So Austin being anti authority, Vince being revealed as president and a guy who will screw guys over, made the audience side w Austin even more once the Mr McMahon character really took off. The timing of it all was perfect and they really capitalized.

I remember being shocked to see how athletic and technical austin was when he was younger. He really changed his in-ring style due to injuries.

.

The Mania 13 match was what made me fall in love w wrestling. Also one of the wildest things about the accident Austin had at Summerslam was that afterwards, Owen hart started wearing a shirt mocking him that said “Owen 3:16 I just broke your neck” 😂

Great point 💯👍

Phillyman!!

Especially with how quick he’s being pushed right now.

And they were without Taker from January to May as well. Shows how stacked the roster was that they could keep going without the top guy and the constant.

The only area AEW has been a true competitor with WWE is talent. Because WWE blows them out of the water in every other subjective category.

So I haven't watched the match on its own, but I played it in the 2k24 showcase mode lol which contains a ton of clips from the match as you replicate it

Great pick

AEW has a lot of the issues that plagued WCW they mirror each other in a way and I know people don't want to hear this but they have come nowhere close to being competition to WWE from a business stand point. The amount of goal posts that had to be moved to even get people to think that was the case was massive. I hope they get there eventually because having another legitimate Monday Night Wars would be a great thing to see.

Crazy to believe that the general consensus is 2000 was the best year in wwe history creatively. Not 100% of people obviously but yeah they were without Austin until September of 2000 and never stopped!!

Phillyman!!

If you wanna se LA Knight with shorter hair, he had a buzz cut in TNA as Eli Drake but he never went with the bald look. Also he’s currently 41 years old.

If I had to place a bet on who would be the next star to reach Cody/Roman levels, I would say Bron. I see that dude main eventing 4-5 manias

Seeing what Vince put out today Iam even more interested in the Netflix documentary. I was concerned that they werent going to fully tell the Vince story but it seems they are. I believe the documentary is 6 episode and it would be cool to have it on the patreon on mondays

Tk Banks

Apparently the story was Shawn was really hurt and with him being difficult back then people weren’t sure if he was going to go through with the match. Before Shawn went out The Undertaker stood in front of him taping his wrists and telling him “you are going do the right thing.”

Abs Ali

i can't believe we never got that austin vs hart match on the patron before you saw this. That was on like the first poll ever lol

Ethan Sofinowski

Yea that's what Tally was telling me. Probably the plan then.

Dport

These are quickly becoming my favorite part of mondays. As far as the Vince doc goes it's actually going to be a mini series with six 1 hour episodes. So maybe have it be the replacement for when you finish this series
