The WWE 2K14 video package for this was incredible.

2024-09-22 12:18:19 +0000 UTCHogan rules. You need to watch some of those 80's wwf prime Hogan matches against a proper heel.
Dagur Hall
2024-09-21 22:41:19 +0000 UTCThat also hampered that match by not making it No Holds Barred. I mean Triple H broke into Ortons house and Orton RKO’ed Stephanie and it’s just a normal match? WTF.

2024-09-21 10:14:48 +0000 UTCHogan saying “Good luck cause you’re gonna need it.” And Rock replying with “Not as much as you, brother.” Will never not make me laugh. Hogan was back for about a month. The nWo returned at No Way Out. This was supposed to be Stone Cold vs Hogan but Austin refused to work with Hogan so he ended up wrestling Scott Hall earlier in the night. Hogan also had the record for most Mania main events with eight until this year when Roman tied and then broke it by main event it both nights of XL. Rock acting heelish and Nash and Hall camping out at the end was indeed ad libbed. They tried doing the Rock/Hogan hand raise with Cena and Rock eleven years later and it didn’t work.

2024-09-21 10:09:22 +0000 UTCI can't imagine having to follow this one up. There's no way they could've matched what happened here!

2024-09-20 15:42:45 +0000 UTCIt was definitely a fun one! 😄

2024-09-20 15:40:32 +0000 UTCWow, what a first Hogan match to watch for Tally. Hopefully we get a straight up 80s Hogan vs evil villain of the month match at some point.

2024-09-20 15:14:44 +0000 UTCOh yeah that I knew and it’s a bad generic guitar riff. You’d think they’d have just used real American as the dub or the nwo theme in wcw. Poorly edited
David
2024-09-20 14:39:59 +0000 UTCIt was Dave Meltzer in his way to justify giving this match a mediocre score because it didn’t meet his “technical standards” or whatever bs he was trying to push

2024-09-20 14:36:18 +0000 UTCThat edited version is so horrible 🤬🤬🙄🙄😂😂

2024-09-20 12:40:50 +0000 UTCI never understood the whole watch this match without sound thing. The crowd is part of the match by not listening to sound you aren't really watching the whole match in my opinion

2024-09-20 05:01:26 +0000 UTCYup. I should have been more clear that this show was this nwo theme. I meant they have in general with all the old Hollywood matched. 😊

2024-09-20 04:45:34 +0000 UTCI was at this show and he used the nwo theme. He hadn’t started using voodoo child yet, he used the nwo theme for the first month of his return. Voodoo child he had used a bit in wcw and after this match when he turned face for his 02-03 run. But at this event he definitely used the nwo theme

2024-09-20 04:16:14 +0000 UTCI know it's not the case here, but at the start of the match, I like to believe that whatever they had planned for the match, they threw it out and just decided to call it right there in the ring, and being 2 of the best pros in the business, they knew exactly what to do, feed off the crowd and pull off the double turn. The moves in the ring were nothing special at all, but it's like moment after moment with crowd pops, all the facial expressions were done to perfection. Hogan hamming it up with the handshake at the end with the pity face. Hogan selling at the end of the match kinda looked like he was trying to take some of rocks moment for himself with the way he was selling, but the rock being generous and sharing it was awesome to see and to finish it off, the walk uo the ramp together at the end. Wow!

2024-09-20 03:01:47 +0000 UTCI've been eagerly waiting for this all month, counting the comments on the post to see when this would post and a couple days ago the comments disappeared and I didn't know how what to do with myself. I know you're a crowd guy and that you'd absolutely appreciate this. Happy to share it. And you hit it right on the head because I was also the one to request it for a poll and it barely didn't make it and I was like forget it, tally tier it is! A couple other things about the match, hogan went into this with allegedly a broken rib. It's also a travesty that this wasn't the main event, there were 2 more matches after this. And after this match, the next time you see hogan, best believe he comes out sporting the red and yellow coming out to real american.

2024-09-20 02:58:59 +0000 UTCYo I love Hulk Hogan! People can cry about it. Didn’t even grow up with him really, as I’m only 27 and I hadn’t even started watching when this moment happened, but yeah, this is just amazing!

2024-09-19 23:38:55 +0000 UTCThe Raw aft Mania 18 had Hogan come out to a HUGE ovation, Rock and Hogan had a tag match with the rest of NWO in the main event, they announced thr first ever brand split to occur between Raw and Smackdown, and Brock Lesnar making his debut!

2024-09-19 23:00:13 +0000 UTCI don't like any of the actors portraying the characters, especially not Terry. But damn this is the perfect storm of q pro wrestling match and a Wrestlemania main event. Oh, btw. Hollywood Hogan's real theme was Voodoo Child by Jimmmy Hendrix, they've gone back and censored it. That song I so expensive that it just isn't used. Nice reactions ✌️❤️🌈

2024-09-19 23:00:07 +0000 UTCIf anyone ever doubted what a crowd can bring to a match this puts it to bed. One of the great moments in wrestling history.

2024-09-19 22:57:36 +0000 UTCAnd the raw after WM when he came out to the ring the ovation was about 5+ minutes long 💯👍

2024-09-19 22:24:36 +0000 UTCAlthough the set-up of rhe match was Rock (face) vs Hogan (heel), fans were just happy to see Hogan back in WWE and WrestleMania for the first time in 9 yrs (mind you, no one knew of how abhorrent Hogan was as a person. The stories of him being a politiker backstage were known, but ultimately that and his departure to WCW were seen as business decisions, whether you agreed with how he went about it, or not). When this match started, people wanted to recapture the magic of what got many of them into wrestling in the first place. And Rock - being a Hogan fan himself - was more that willing call an audible and heel it up for the match.

2024-09-19 22:18:39 +0000 UTCTriple H vs Orton is kinda different because they actually had a super hot feud going into it. The match just ended up being bad
.
2024-09-19 22:16:41 +0000 UTCThis match was just perfect in how it’s two icons everyone wants see, two guys that you know don’t want to lose, and you don’t know how it’s gonna turn out. Hogan definitely doesn’t want to take the 3 count we know that but also idk how the Rock would feel to learn he’s taking the fall. The sound turned off thing is a thing that Meltzer started where he didn’t like the match and said he watched it with the sound off and it wasn’t good. These are two of the biggest names in the business and he’s gonna watch it with the sound off to judge the “technical prowess” or whatever gets him off.

2024-09-19 22:04:12 +0000 UTCBest way to think about this match is that Hogan walked in as Hollywood Hogan (NWO) and walked out as Hulk Hogan (Red and Yellow). He started doing many of the old Hulk Hogan mannerisms in response to the crowd throughout the match. I guess, in kayfabe, they woke up the old Hogan. It's safe to say that they had to adjust their plans for his booking after he turned babyface in this match. From what I understand, they had anticipated that Hogan might get cheered and decided to take the match whichever direction made sense.

2024-09-19 21:21:15 +0000 UTCWCW and ECW ended the year prior in 2001 and that started the whole WWE vs WCW/ECW storyline that lasted most of 2001. When WCW ended, a lot of big stars still had guaranteed contracts with WCW. Some stars could have came to WWE but chose to let their contracts run out and take the money. So, in February of 2002 at No Way out, the NWO (Nash, Hogan, and Hall) returned to the company. So this match right here is about a month after that. After WrestleMania, Hogan turned face, and went back to the red and yellow attire. This run for Hogan ended in August of 2002, and you didn't see Hogan again until 2003. Same with the Rock. He was starting to become a big actor in Hollywood, so you didn't see the rock after Summerslam until early 2003 when they were building up to Rock vs Hogan 2 at No Way out in February of 2003 in Montreal. Crazy how both of their matches were in Canada. Toronto here, and Montreal later. I did wish yall watched the buildup package for the Brock vs Angle match yesterday like you guys did for this match, but it's still cool though. That match was good. This is my favorite version of The Rock's theme.
Christopher Barnes
2024-09-19 21:15:46 +0000 UTCThis match not main eventing was crazy. The main event was Jericho/Triple H and it sucked. Crowd had used all their energy on Rock/Hogan lol.
