This was a wwe produced show, ecw shut down in early 2001. Both one night stand shows (05 and 06) were tribute shows put on by wwe. The 06 version served as a relaunch of the ecw brand under the wwe umbrella but that was a failure for a variety of reasons. Most of the ecw talent (including Heyman himself) were contracted to wwe at the time for both those shows

Couldn’t use anything until Heyman worked out the legalities. I think another investor had some ownership of it but I can’t remember the details

So while women wrestlers were getting called whores, it was really bad with Lita, especially during the Edge/Cena feud in

MA EYE!” I just wish you guys got to see Foley and Funk’s promo on Raw a few weeks before this where Funk says “If I had a head like yours, I’d get it circumcised.” interesting thing about Funk too is that he was supposedly a really good wrestler when he first got into the business, even winning the NWA Title in the late 70s. He’d have a second career as a deathmatch wrestler starting in the early 90s in FMW and later ECW. Foley become friends with Funk in Japan and the two even teamed together in WWE in 1998. Funk also did the plastic bag suffocation before Moxley did it to Danielson, doing it to Ric Flair in 1989.
