September Mail Bag!

I want to see older matches too, but let’s take a step back. This whole thing was an idea for one video in Josh’s mind 6 months ago. Now, he’s watched well over 100 matches, most classics or must-sees. How many true classic WWE/WCW matches are there really? They’re coming, as are the other promotions. Give it a full year.

Interesting that Baz said to look out for The Out runners just before they made what I believe was their Dynamite debut in the Tag Team Casino Battle Royal. Did you catch it this week and if so, what were your thoughts?

aloneinabox

I've been thinking the same as far as time goes. I like to do the watch alongs, but every single one is 45 min to an hour and I got shit to do today lol

Nate Cruz

My fav wwe era ruthless aggression 02 to 05 some really good stuff happened womans wrestling now lot better now

Ryan Evans

He was great, he was over on tv though since there were no fans.

Tribal Chief Roman Reigns got over during the pandemic era

Daniel Carpio

Don't forget that Roman Reigns got over during the pandemic era

Daniel Carpio

Yep! My ability to enjoy things most others don't is a super power of mine. Lol

I mean it was interesting, but for me and just for me , interesting does not mean good. Love the conversation though.

Dak4life

Not everyone prioritizes the same things. I understand if you hated that era, I find it very interesting.

Dport

You do you I guess. I don’t think you understand I’m talking about the actual product like characters and storylines though. There so many dumb and bizarre storylines that would make you question your love for wrestling. And you have only seen the best of the ThunderDome, but slay the ThunderDome King.

Dak4life

Yea I've seen several matches from that era in general. I understand. It would have been great for me 😀

Dport

I mean your enjoyment of the actual product, not looking for fans or enjoying the quiet, and you have only seen a glimpse of it. I’m not telling you what you like, but I don’t think you quite understand how it was. There were still piped in crowd noise, it was not silent. Still you know what you like, but you also don’t know exactly how it was.

Dak4life

nah i explained why it's for me specifically. There are aspects in pro wrestling that I specifically watch for, and the lack of crowd noise would enhance that for me. I know what I like lol

Dport

After watching Raw for two weeks in the Thunder Dome you would change your answer. 😂😂😂 Vince was still in charge and the booking was SHITE.

Mercedes Moné really is a weird case. Back in the day, as you might know, NXT for the ~first time in WWE's history pushed good women's wrestling and she was one of them. Of course people will like Charlotte, Becky or Bailey more. I get it, they are 4 different flavors. I think she gave her opponents the base to have these great matches. Maybe she didn't shine as much, but for me they couldn't have had this developement without her to reach the next level. I pretty much didn't watch her main show matches, but I found her again when she had some matches in Stardom/NJPW before she went to AEW. For me, those matches proved, that she is an international wrestler being able to do all styles fluently. She trained in Mexico to improve her lucha libre wrestling, she showed in Stardom that she can do high speed matches. That is the reason why I was positive towards her going to AEW, her overall technical abilities, that tbh she proved against Nightingale on PPV pretty soon. But, she had a very bad injury the year before, so you never know how that changes someone's fluidity. Also it was a "big deal" because behind the scenes it helped to have a bigger focus on the women's division and it did, 2024 did see a push for AEW women's wrestling in general. But recent matches showed some problems I guess interacting with her opponents. So this is more like a "depends on what" feeling about her. I was disheartened by her match with Shida because on paper... they are both so strong this should have been a 4 star plus match. So yeah, I understand the various viewing points and motives of saying that she is this or that.

yeahokgood

This sounds like a Stardom high speed guarantee. ;)

yeahokgood

Yes, I meant Like New Japan Wrestling, more homegrown wrestling company. Matches like the queens quest 12 woman cage match or the exploding cage match. I find it interesting to watch the more local brands of wrestling.

Vansonny

Marigold is a new all female promotion.

Karen

Each to ur own but for me the pandemic wrestling was so hard to watch without fans it just not the same without them reminds me of a comedian telling jokes but no ones there the wrestlers said reminded them of having practice matches with no one there and hard for them to know what working and ain't as there receiving no feedback by fans it nearly made me stop watching wrestling I hated it I never wanna see wrestling without fans again I rather it not happened and just come back with fans give us all summit to look forward to aswell when fans came back for sport games for me it the worst era in wrestling history the most boring but everyone has different opinions

Ryan Evans

That could be a good poll option. Vote for Sub 10 minute matches

For Prototype’s question, if you want to know about backstage stuff, check out Maven Huffman. He’s a former midcard wrestler from like 2001-2005 and he shares a lot of stuff from his time on his YouTube channel
