I knew once you watched a couple deathmatch adjacent things, you'd get a ton more requested. This one definitely had some deathmatch classics put in it with the glass and the spiderweb. I'm still surprised AEW actually did a spiderweb spot but I guess I can't be surprised with anything AEW does anymore when they had light tubes in a deathmatch on TV and now syringes and stuff. Also, I agree about the mouse trap board spot. I've seen similar spots done before and it never really has the impact that it seems like it would.

2024-09-16 14:11:53 +0000 UTCYes!! This was the match I was hoping you would react to. It cemented me as an AEW diehard back in 2019, and I am still going to this day. Compared to what we have seen in recent years, it's not the most violent or gruesome. However, when I first saw it, this match showed how different AEW was from WWE and made me "Change the channel," so to say. I have stuck with AEW ever since.

I do think his original one (which he came out to for this match) is under-rated - which is backed up by both of you instantly bobbing along to it the entire time on first listen XD

That glass breaks so fine the risk of getting small shards stuck in your back and developing an infection or something is higher than any pop you would get from it would benefit the match.

This is early in AEWs life so it was unreal to see this sort of match again as for like 10+ years prior WWE was PG so the hardcore style was really reduced and made safe. So at the time of this happening it was seen as far more shocking than it seems now haha.
