Kerry Von Erich vs Ric Flair WCCW Christmas Star Wars 1982

Unfortunately they did that finish to protect Ric many times. Babyface would bleed excessively, be just about to win, and the ref says he’s bleeding too much and stops the match. This was a bit different with the concussion aspect at least. Fun match, hope to see more well known classic Flair matches!

2024-11-09 14:38:45 +0000 UTCBret vs Owen Summerslam 94 is beloved by many. I’d definitely watch their Wrestlemania 10 match first though.

2024-08-21 13:04:46 +0000 UTCAlso some further context that wasn’t explained in the best of ways. The free Birds were friends with the Von Erich’s going into the match, so it wasn’t just a random Babyface turning against them, it was someone who they actually had a prior established relationship with.

2024-08-20 00:23:40 +0000 UTC@5:55 I'm kinda curious .. a question for the old heads in the community. Which cage matches with the blue steel cage era would you recommend? I'm assuming one has to be from Wrestlemania 2 with Hogan vs K K Bundy... just to represent one from that style/ era.

2024-08-19 20:22:57 +0000 UTC@3:20 your example of AC/ DC is quite perplexing as a rock band with the best hair.. I was thinking more David Lee Roth (Van Halen) Jon Bon Jovi (Bon Jovi) or Bret Michaels (Poison) as a better spokesperson of the glam rock era. anyways Wrasslin!

2024-08-19 16:02:19 +0000 UTCNow that you've seen a Von Erich match, I would love you two to watch The Iron Claw. It's a very powerful movie and can be a bit of a tough watch, but it is REALLY good. Then you could do a video for your thoughts.

2024-08-19 16:02:07 +0000 UTCOne thing about earlier wrestling is how raw and chaotic everything felt. Made run ins and interference seem way more plausible. Now everything is so sleek and well lit and almost too sanitary. The bloodline just arrive to get involved in each others matches and nobody from the back ever tries to stop them and when refs take bumps it takes 2 years to get another one and there is no use of instant replay lol.

2024-08-19 13:58:16 +0000 UTCGlad that yall really liked the match. I loved that at the end yall didn’t know if he was genuinely hurt or not. The cage door did hit Kerry’s head but that was him selling it. Both of those guys were in their primes at that moment so I knew it was a good match for yall to see. Next month I’ll send in a Jerry Lawler match that’s really good for yall to see. Most people only know Jerry as the commentator and they haven’t seen just how good he was.

2024-08-19 13:57:20 +0000 UTCThe woo was a Flair thing in the 80's (idk when it started exactly) but I've heard that the chants wasn't a thing until the 90's when Shane Douglas would woo after a chop to mock Flair, which the crowd would replicate, when Douglas got chopped, to annoy him.

2024-08-19 08:26:57 +0000 UTCI appreciate the athleticism of modern wrestling, but there's also something great about that slow, grounded, older style. It feels like the wrestlers are grinding each other down + the big spots can feel bigger when the rest of the match is more lowkey. Going back and watching territory stuff can be really fun.

2024-08-19 07:41:01 +0000 UTCMichael Hayes is still active backstage for WWE. In fact he produced many of the Roman bloodline segments and matches.

2024-08-19 07:17:31 +0000 UTCThere is a Dark Side of the Ring Episode on the Von Erich family. that would be a good one for another documentary week. Little bit of context for this. Flair is the NWA World Champion the NWA is the governing body of all the wrestling companies which are very regional at this time. He is coming into Kerry's home territory WCCW in Texas. Flair as champion would travel to all the other wrestling companies or territories as they were called and defend the world title against the territories top guy. Flairs had to elevate the other wrestlers by making it look like if Flair hadn't cheated they would have won. Flairs job and the job of all NWA champions like the tag team champions etc was basically to go into a territory and leave it better than when they arrived so that the territory could draw more money with the increased popularity of the wrestlers that faced them.

2024-08-19 03:57:13 +0000 UTCApart from drugs/alcohol/partying/tanning, the biggest reason Ric Flair looked older was due to surviving a plane crash where he broke his back at the age of 26. Flair was over 300lbs and looked completely different pre-crash. After the crash and after his back recovered he would obsessively do hours of exercise every day including 2-3 hours of stairmaster/treadmill and wrestling multiple 60+ minute matches per week in his prime. He would work out for hours in the morning even if he was out until 4am. His drastic body and lifestyle change caused him to look older.

2024-08-19 03:44:39 +0000 UTCWould be awesome if you both reacted to the Iron Claw film centered around the Von Erich family! Kerry is played by Jeremy Allen White in the film

2024-08-19 03:40:56 +0000 UTCThe Von Erich's where such a sad story that whole family went through so much. Of the six brother five of them passed away all at way to young of an age. Three of which where sadly by suicide and just a few years apart.

2024-08-19 03:25:00 +0000 UTCSeeing Ric cut a promo where he’s just talking in a normal, reserved tone feels wrong.
