Despite the criticism i feel like it all worked out so well because every title defense felt like „this time he’s definitely losing it”. And out of the blue not only did he not lose the title, but he won the second one from Cena 😁

His entrance was like Kurt Angle's "You Suck" chants during this specific era but most people had respect for him during this 2015-2018 era of John Cena. The Let's Go Cena, Cena Sucks chants were also more interactive than how they actually felt. If you go to before 2015 you would hear legit boos ringing down on Cena but you actually hear cheers during this era when he entered.

Giving a US Title open challenge every single week on raw for basically seven months straight and defending it consistently on pay per views as well really helped elevate the title because he was giving undercarders like Kevin Owens, Dean Ambrose and Sami Zayn their big breaks during the weekly open challenge. Easily the best John Cena year of All time even better than 2007 or 2013 Cena which were also pretty crazy.

As for the curb stomp, Vince actually banned that move after WrestleMania that year because he thought it was too violent of a move for his brand new WWE Champion. Even though Seth fought heavily against it, he lost that battle obviously. He used the Pedigree afterwards because it made sense seeing as Triple H was his mentor. Vince unbanned the stomp in January 2018, so nearly 3 years later. And Seth defended both titles at the very next PLE in back-to-back matches. First the US Title against Cena and then right after the WWE title against Sting. He lost to Cena but beat Sting, so he was only double champion for 28 days. Also yes, PPVs/PLEs used to take place on Sundays, but then they switched them to Saturdays during the start of the pandemic.

I had my friend put it on me years ago and as soon as I rolled onto my stomach, he was in pain. Did it vice versa and the same thing happened to me. Reversing the pressure is legit. Destroys your shins.
