This was only the third NXT Takeover! Phew, thought you were gonna turn it off early. One of the rare moments where they did the copyright screen early and then surprised you. I love that. Side note, the ring announcer here is Bray Wyatt’s widow, JoJo Offerman. :(

I always thought it felt off but couldn't work out why, and I think you articulated it pretty well. Also, yes - I was fully aware of what was coming as you were hyping up the Zayn/Owens bromance. The small nuance that wasn't put over on commentary was that Zayn had been with WWE/NXT a couple years by that point, while Owens had made his debut earlier that night on the very same show.

He was also at one point NXT tag team champions with Corey Graves, who incidentally retired to the announce desk at the start of this show. Speaking of Corey, I agree that he's better on color commentary than he is at play-by-play but the fact that he's so good at both is really rare IMO, he's absolutely a top-tier commentator now.

2024-07-28 19:51:55 +0000 UTCSo the same show was Kevin Owens debut in WWE/NXT (where he broke his nose that's what happened) so they pushed Owens right from the start in NXT and he was only in NXT for about 6 months before getting called up to Raw which is insane as most spend like 2-3 years in NXT before getting called up and then his 1st match on the main roster was at a Elimination Chamber 2015 vs John Cena

2024-07-28 17:04:27 +0000 UTCI’m only 20 so Neville was one of those wrestlers I saw as a kid and immediately forgot all about him when I stopped watching wrestling. Hes PAC in AEW now and he’s doing a great job over there. It’s like a blast from the past everytime I see this guy. The only thing he just can’t seem to get down is sometimes it’ll take him like a minute to get set and ready to jump on somebody and it leaves the opponent to sit there but that’s a very minute criticism but 99% of everything else he does is great. His matches tagging with the Lucha Brothers I like that’s how I got exposed to those guys. One of these weeks I’ll submit a Death Triangle match that’s their tag team name. The Lucha Brothers are on another world I’ve said this since I first saw Penta if Disney ever gave Mexico the opportunity to make a superhero movie about like Avengers from over there they could hire Penta El Zero he looks like a mexican superhero. His real brother in real life and tag partner Fenix could be in the movie but that guys so athletic he could be a amazing stuntman the way he can flip and move around but he’s a smaller guy.
