2024-07-24 06:56:21 +0000 UTCThey did the voting for who you thought would win a fair bit around this time. Your assumption on Backlash being the backlash from Mania is correct. From 1999-2009, 2018 and then the past four years the show was after Mania but from 2010-2015 and 2019 they didn’t have Backlash at all while in 2016, 2017 and 2020 it was in different months (September and May). I forgot this match had the hard cam on the opposite side. I don’t know why they had the hard cam on this side because if you remember the MITB match from Mania 23 the hard cam was on the normal side. Oh yeah you asked about the spinner title once before, later in 07 I believe they fixed the logo to the centre so it would no longer spin. I think it was SmackDown vs Raw 2006 or 2007 you could hold L2 or R2 and spin the logo as your wrestler made their entrance. My issue with a group catching someone doing a dive is when they stand there too long not actively doing anything waiting for the person to dive on them. Orton and Edge weren’t called team Rated RKO, just Rated RKO. They came together in September 06 and broke up around Mania 23 at the beginning of April. Cena and HBK beat Rated RKO for the World Tag Titles and then faced each other at Mania 23 before losing the Tag Titles the next night on Raw. HBK and Triple H had been feuding with Rated RKO for a few months before H tore his quad in January so the title win with Cena was sort of an extension to that feud. During the double Boston crab on HBK you, and the commentators wondered who would get the credit for it and IMO, it should have been Edge because he got it locked in first. They’ve done double submissions before where someone taps and if a title is on the line it gets vacated. They’ve also done tap outs at the same time as a pin is counted too. They’re constantly changing their minds as to whether rope breaks count in multi man matches, no DQ matches, Steel Cage and Hell in a Cell matches

2024-07-23 21:33:23 +0000 UTCShawn REALLY helped cena rehabilitate his image during this time period, especially with their match on Raw which is arguably the best raw match of all time. Cena was incredibly stale at this time and, for many, that feeling would last for 6+ more years. Cena’s style had turned into him getting beaten down and then using his Five Moves of Doom and winning. This largely wasn’t his fault and is just what he was instructed to do, and it worked extremely well with the PG/kids audience and he ended up selling more merch than anyone by a long shot. Working these longer matches helped him show that his wrestling chops were still there and he could still work a good match if he wanted to.
