The Young Bucks vs Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page - AEW Revolution 2020

This moved the needle.

Comments

I have fond memories of watching this show in Buffalo Wild Wings with many other fans. Covid hit THREE WEEKS LATER. And dude, Jim Ross has the southern drawl and low voice. He’s the play by play guy. Jerry Lawler has the high voice, makes dumb jokes, and yells “look out” a lot, I guess. lol.

Big Ell

I agree in the sense that AEW have amazing matches, but many of them continue past their peak in terms of crowd investment. It really depends on the individual wrestler, since AEW don't really have agents/producers. Somone like MJF for example doesn't have this issue. Some fans think a match is automatically better the longer it is. For me, this is a 4.5/5 match that could have been 4.75/5 or 5/5 if it ended at its peak.

.

That is a pretty sad comment.

yeahokgood

I would also watch a video like that actually

Dport

I know AEW gets a lot of flak for no selling and with the golden trigger spot I could understand somebody not understanding why that move in particular Kenny would kick out at one. That was the finisher that he and his former partner Kota Ibushi used. During this whole build and even his partnership with hangman there were comparisons to that former Tag Team.

Spencer Cohen

There 2 out 3 falls match is in my top 3 fav matches ever okada vs omega matches are just special what a rivalry I also think more they faced the better matches got

Ryan Evans

Maybe try clips see wat u like and don't and I'm an aew fan and people speak to on twitter about it ain't trolls they say whats good or bad and some fans are like wwe rules aew sucks same other way round I dont associate with them people there toxic and to tribalism over a TV show I think to them it like sports teams vs each other but not all fans are like that maybe u just seen some like that aew do some good stuff but depends what ur taste is it all subjective anyway no ones right or wrong like with movies

Ryan Evans

I don’t know why people don’t watch AEW, but there’s two reasons I don’t. The first is just time. If I had time to follow a promotion, I’d go with the one I’ve been following on and off for decades (WWE). The other issue, true or not, is that AEW comes across as gatekept to me. A vocal enough portion of the fanbase is toxic to people who don’t only like AEW, or don’t like key aspects of the promotion. It reminds me of the 2000s IWC, and that’s not at all what I’m looking for. So I’ve barely given AEW a chance and don’t plan to. I’d consider it if there was a very low-commitment way (like a well-produced, 15-20 minute “February in AEW” recap video that can keep you invested when you can’t watch…I’ve wanted that from WWE for decades).

CG

What's wrong with u brother hahahaha Go touch some grass...

Daniel Santos

Exactly! AEW is just trying to be an alternative, for those that prefer or like other type of wrestling styles. Not everyone likes WWE type of match presentation, just like some folks don't like the types of AEW or TNA or NJPW or Lucha. At the end of the day it just comes down to wrestling style preferences, none of these are superior and liking or disliking some of these is fine! I think the hate towards AEW is so stupid, because competition makes things thrive, that's also one of the reasons why WWE is so hot these days, bc they saw that they were getting some real competition and had to step up their game! In the end, competition makes every side evolve and improve and everyone benfits, especially us fans!

Daniel Santos

I know stupid right...God I hate them and their Dumb 5 moves every match. And before you say paid wwe shill or whatever, I'm an equal opportunity hater, but the young bucks just ooze "my shit don't stink" attitude.

Jeremy Burton

Yeah it's almost like they're a tag team.... DUH!

Daniel Santos

Man I just do not get the young bucks. You see the same spots and same mannerisms every match.

Jeremy Burton

I’m not, but do you have a hint about the match

Jakob Micheal

As far as modern American tag matches go, I definitely start with this one, some Usos vs. Kevin and Sami at WrestleMania 39, FTR vs. Jay White and Juice Robinson's pair of matches on AEW television, Revival vs. DIY from NXT, and there's a few others, but this is definitely one of the best. Not too much else to say about it personally. Although, I'm probably in the minority of people that can accept all the nonsense that went on involving a lot of people in this match and CM Punk which led to multiple backstage incidents and to some extent led Punk back to WWE, and still be really big fans of all parties involved (Punk and the guys in this match) since I honestly don't care. Admittedly the Bucks are a bit more controversial, and they tend to be more of a love them or hate them type of act, but nonetheless, The Bucks have great tag matches, but some feel they do too much. Page is a great worker and often a centerstage of long-term storytelling in AEW, and Omega is, at least in my opinion, one of the best wrestlers in recent memory, albeit I do think a lot of his best work was in Japan, before AEW came into existence.

TheFlamingShark

You not a Tally Tier member so you can’t see the post? It was in the poll two votes ago I think.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

Love to see you branching out into all these different flavours of wrestling. I don't understand the AEW hate either - a lot of it seems to be because they do things in a different way, which is fine. I don't think they're trying to be the WWE or even better on their level (personally, I don't ever see that happening, just like I don't see anyone overtaking Coca Cola). I think AEW is just trying to be an alternative for people who wouldn't mind something a little different. I don't get all this talk of numbers, ratings, attendances, etc. If a lifelong wrestling fan wants to set up his own promotion to cater towards the "smart mark" wrestling fan - I personally don't see why that's such a big problem.

aloneinabox

I'm gonna say this.. as a long time fan, a traditionalist. I don't like the Bucks. I will also tell you that Kenny Omega, although having some decent matches.. has had flack surrounding his collaboration with these wrestlers. Now, ofc, my views are majorly going to be skewed.. because I am loyal to a certain person.. and due to everything that happened since the Brawl Out/ Brawl in .. the entire controversy. Yep, no disdain or hatred towards Bullet Club, I just don't go for itl I'm just happy they didn't get a win over Sting and Darby Allin, just my 2 cents. Oh, and Hangman, can kick rocks too. It's a Cornette thing as well.

Phatlayces_Pcola

I would like to add MJF VS Darby Allin Full Gear 2021 to the suggestion. It is still my favorite MJF match of all time

Annoyneop

Can you give a hint to what it is?

Jakob Micheal

I’m not saying that I think this, I’m just saying what I see other people say but I just wanted to ask in that case what is your favorite tag match of all time

Jakob Micheal

Lol maybe phrase that differently next time pal.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

God no. Maybe in AEW but in all of wrestling history.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

Exactly. I was watching one of their matches and they had the equivalent of someone getting run over by truck five times and the person still kicked out. That's a little much because if they kick out of that, what won't they kick out of?

Chad

That's fair.

Zakk219

That's true although that could be saved for when he does a special category vote for botched match or something haha. Actually I'd like to throw another into the mix. More recent. Willow Vs Skye blue street fight. That absolutely slapped

BazMan01

Yeah. Even if you wanted to dip into deathmatch, I feel the Mox v Kenny Exploding Barbwire match is approachable for it being that type of match, even with the laughable ending after the match.

Zakk219

Haven't seen anyone on WWE Videos saying "why you watching this shit". Some of the videos aren't for me but I just don't watch them. Life is alot better for it when you stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and do what makes you happy. And if posting hate on someone's platform because it doesn't align with your personal preference is what makes you happy, then i feel bad for you man. I hope you find something more positive with your time.

BazMan01

Haha yeah that's true. But also you wanna show him the best AEW has as we wanna create a fan in him. I guess Mox Vs Kenny at Full Gear unsanctioned would fit in well? There's nothing to crazy on that match apart from the legit spot that cuts open moxs back of his head

BazMan01

I'd love to see him react to some of Ibushi's matches in the CWC. That tournament was insane. So many good matches.

Zakk219

No. You gotta work up to deathmatches, even those that aren't the craziest.

Zakk219

Kota Ibushi is a mad lad, I can't wait until we get a couple of his matches on here

prototype27

Well at least I know my tally tear suggestion is next.

Steamed Ham Champion Dillon Haggett

one of aew's biggest issues is knowing when to end a match

Ethan Sofinowski

Thank you for suggesting this I haven't watched this since the ppv and I forgot just how great this match is

Matt

Bro why are you here? It seems like all you do is hate on everything. Do you even like wrestling? Because there is so much good shit out there outside of wwe, just enjoy wrestling and If you can't do that than don't even comment because no one wants to see this negatively.

Matt

I'm so happy imo AEW just has better in ring action than WWE, I still love both though

Matt

Some suggestions for other AEW matches to watch : Kenny Omega vs Will Ospreay AEW FD 2023 Swerve vs Hangman Texas Death Match 2023 Will Ospreay vs Swerve FD 2024

Abdullah

So this is twice in a row now that you’ve decided to be a weird little asshole when it comes to anything that isn’t WWE. Slavish devotion to the mainstream is just kind of a sad way to enjoy an art form. But if you have to be that way you could at least not be a prick about it and grow up.

Wade Kruse

Genuinely, shut the fuck up. Let people enjoy things.

Dport

Gonna be there 250th episode

Ventus Starkz

You should really consider watching tomorrow (07/17/24) episode of AEW dynamite, Especially you like MJF and Will O.

Ventus Starkz

weirdo.

Dagur Hall

12:25 they where chanting cowboy shit at Adam Page it was a bit of a catch phrase of his at the time

Drew Or Die

Aew isn't as popular for several reasons. The biggest one is they cater to a niche audience AEW generally targets people who love wrestling they just don't have the appeal to a casual audience that WWE has. Anther problem is out side of a few exceptions they have really struggled to maintain momentum. AEW is really good at writing stories for people chasing the belt and working there way up to the main event. But are very inconstant in other places several wrestlers have lost a ton of momentum because AEW just didn't know what to do with them anymore. Guys like Ricky Starks and Wardlow could be main eventers right now but AEW let all there momentum fade. Also it doesn't help AEW sucks at advertising there live events twice now they have came to my area and i had no idea about it until the day of the event or after it already happened

Drew Or Die

The kickout at 1 was cool bc they used Kenny and his old tag partners finishing move. The golden lovers story deserves a video all in of its own but essentially that kickout meant “fuck you. I’m pissed”

Wilson Simons

Let's go!!!!! So glad your finally getting to see this match and yes it's really hard to find full AEW matches let alone high quality ones

Drew Or Die

If u just want wwe matches don't watch the non wwe ones then don't need to be trollish and aggressive over it and its josh channel he can watch what he wants I think it good he's trying different stuff

Ryan Evans

Its very fast I feel like if they just slowed it down a bit it would do wonders not only to give the crowd time to lose their minds but it gives more time to tell the story of what's going on in the match. They can barely cut to the crowds reactions without missing something else too. Very impressive from an athletic standpoint though. Disclaimer I've only seen this match from the bucks for all I know they may already do this.

Nicholas Kramer

Tag matches in AEW have different rules than WWE tag matches. There’s a 10 count instead of a 5 and a pin or submission attempt has priority over an illegal tag partner being in the ring

Wilson Simons

23:30 Matt spit in Hangman’s face like how Hangman spit in his face earlier

Wilson Simons

My favorite part of this match, also one of my favorites of all time, was when Kenny kicks out at 1. The move the Bucks used on him was called a Golden Trigger. Back in Japan, Kenny Omega had a tag team partner named Kota Ibushi. They had a (b?)romance and their team was known as the Golden Lovers. SuperEyepatchWolf has a great video about their story. The Golden Tigger was their move so the Bucks using it against Kenny fired him up and him pounding his fist on the mat after getting up gives me goosebumps. He was insulted they'd try that on him, he was sad missing his friend, he was defiant and it reinvigorated him to keep fighting.

Rooster

Wrestling can be so many beautiful things, so I’m happy to see you expanding and watching a wide variety. Like any Story Telling medium, there is so many genre’s, we can all have our favourites but it’s just nice to explore the different corners of what stories can be told in their medium. From Technical to WWE Main Event, from Spot fest to Story driven / Emotional all to Deathmatch / hardcore. I’m glad you liked the match, it’s honestly one I’ve underestimated this match in the past but it’s one that just grows on me the more I watch it. I also have so many matches to catch up on myself, so it’s fun to rewatch these great matches with ya while I do my own personal catch up list. 😊

Basment of Owls

No hate but I still find it weird how someone can attack other people and it’s perfectly fine and excusable as they took a few minor shots at him first

Arrow901

So to address your question about AEW’s popularity, these are just my opinions but the MAIN reason in my eyes is that it caters to a niche audience. WWE is number one everything in wrestling they have all the mainstream attention, they create larger than life superstars that are easy for the casual fans to like. AEW is the complete opposite they actually strive to be that, it is much more about wrestling and while they have told amazing stories nothing to the extent of the Bloodline for example. They have had many celebrities on their shows but it just doesn’t get the mainstream attention like WWE, no wrestling company does or has since WCW and maybe TNA in its infant stage. It is a show with a great wrestling product, it’s not sports entertainment. But with that being said they achieved a record number of attendance at Wembley Stadium last year for All In, it is a popular company, but in the wrestling world, WWE is known to just about everyone. And of course you have some people who don’t like change and believe WWE is life and no company can dare compete with them. Oh and by the way the Young Buck’s finisher, the piledriver, is called the Meltzer Driver and is named after Dave Meltzer the guy most known for giving out stars for matches, works for the Wrestling Observer.

Dak4life

Moved the needle 😂😂😂😂😂 this garbage shit didn’t move anything Honestly why are you even wasting your time watching this dogshit company fuck this shite and watch wwe Plenty of classics and proper matches with actual stories involved don’t watch this circus clown show circle jerk bs

Josh Cahill

Many people say this match was the best tag match ever and I absolutely love this match too especially when I watched it live

Jakob Micheal

Do you guys think he's ready for Hangman Vs Swerve Texas Deathmatch yet? 😂

BazMan01

So glad your doing more AEW content. Thank you!

BazMan01

This isn’t the kind of wrestling for me but I see why people could like this. The first time I saw “The Elite” wrestle it looked different but after a couple times you can tell it’s just spots on spots on spots. Does it require athleticism yes but it’s not wrestling. AEW fans like this kind of play “we’re all in on it” winking at the camera wrestling but it’s a niche audience. It’s cool to look at to see the flippy moves but not much else. You probably don’t know much about the Elite as people but Hangman Adam Page and The Young Bucks were major reason why CM Punk is not in AEW today. Around the Summer of 2022 right when I started getting back into wrestling there was this rumor which was proven false that CM Punk got his former friend Colt Cabbana fired from AEW and moved to ROH. Adam Page right before a PPV went into business for himself in the ring with CM Punk during a promo. From then on it was just “CM Punk bad he’s a cancer we’re not gonna tell you why but you just know he’s a bad guy” It just seemed like a lot of people just got into their weird niche indie friend group circles and just said “This guy wants to actually make this a real business that makes money and he’s a bigger star then all of us and we can’t take it” Tony Khan even said after the Jack Perry fight that he feared for his life and in the footage that they showed on their own TV program of CM Punk choking out Jack Perry Tony Khan was right there and did nothing about it. Over the past year that group of guys has done so much to show that AEW is second rate, the minor leagues, a joke, etc. There’s a good crop of talent there but most of them are being used like shit or just floundering there collecting a big check.

John Coffey

we need an omega vs okada watchalong!!!

Dre Mercy

LETS GOOOOOO!!! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE
