Let's play D&D: Stars of the Sea ACT 2 playtests!

Hello everyone!

We’ve really enjoyed playing games online with you, our patrons, and the opportunity to test our material with you is improving the way we write our adventures. So, we’re going to continue running our games for patrons, starting with brand-new playtests for ACT2 of our Stars of the Sea campaign!

This playtest will work a little differently from the ACT1 playtest that we recently concluded. During that playtest, the same 6 characters participated in one continuous adventure, start to finish. 

For the ACT2 playtests, everyone will be able to make a character using brand-new Ancestry & Culture playtest material, and use that character to participate in voice-chat game sessions! Outside of those individual sessions, your characters will be able to contribute to the game by participating in text-play downtime activities. How these playtests are structured, and how you can participate, is explained below.

Introducing: The Silver Stars!

The Silver Stars are a brand-new adventuring company, based in the resplendent city of Silver Spires. The characters you will make for this playtest are all a part of the Silver Stars’ roster of adventurers. Whenever a Quest presents itself, the Silver Stars select 6 adventurers from their roster to go on the Quest.

Quests

These Quests are individual playtests that will take 1 or 2 sessions to complete. When an individual Quest presents itself, it will be announced on our discord server with a date and expected duration (usually this will be one 3-hour session). Patrons that have submitted characters for the playtests can then sign up to participate in the playtest. We will accept or decline sign-ups, prioritising people that have participated the least over people that have participated the most, so that everyone has a fair chance to play.

The future

With this playtest format, we’re hoping to set ourselves up for the long haul. We intend to use this format to playtest a lot of different ideas for the Stars of the Sea with you, including downtime activities, building your adventurer’s base, and eventually, the thrilling climax to the Stars of the Sea campaign. So keep your eyes peeled for future announcements!

When will these games take place?

In general, games will be hosted on Saturdays, starting at 8PM BST / 3PM EDT / 12PM PDT, and taking between 3-4 hours to complete. New dates will be announced continuously in the Quest Announcements channel of our discord server!

Always check the time and date posted with the Quest announcement, as the time and day on which a game is hosted may vary.

How do I sign up?

In order to sign up, you must first submit a character to the Silver Stars Roster. Once you have that, you can sign up for a game by replying to the announcement in the Quest Announcements channel on discord.
