What's new in the public release:
- Changed Debug and LiveEdit categories to only show when organized buildbuy is on. This will help avoid the confusion that occurred when players tried to use them while it was off and the category was empty.
- Instead of clearing Hide Maxis on search, it will now stay on but be ignored when searching. It will resume as soon as you go back to browsing the catalog.
- Replaced the underscores in object names with spaces (I realized the catalog search only works on the start of each word, so this makes searching debug much easier)
- Added translations for menu labels. Better translations are always welcome, the string tables can be found in the .package file.
- If you saw the brief public release earlier, it was pulled because a few minutes later I discovered the eyedropper needed the same Hide Maxis override mentioned above. It's now treated as a search as well. If you managed to grab that one, still re-download.
This is the first public release for Better BuildBuy. Many of you might know it as Organized Debug from my teasers, but because the scope of the project has changed, Better BuildBuy is a more fitting title.
This can be viewed as the ultimate bundle of my common build mods. Expandable Catalog and BuildMode FreeCam are included, since they share the same files.
If you have those installed separately, remove them before installing this.
[FEATURES]
This mod brings quite a few quality of life improvements to buildbuy, here is a list of them:
- Organized Debug: Debug (and LiveEdit) objects are sorted into proper categories when this is on. For example, plungers and makeup are in the Bathroom Accents category now, and LiveEdit Trees are well... in Trees.
- Swatched Debug: Objects will now be swatched like normal objects are. This lets you use the design tool to quickly flip through the swatches as well.
- Named Debug: When Organized Debug is on, debug items without names are now named by their technical name. This will make searching for a particular item easier.
- Clone and Destroy Debug: When Organization is on, you may also clone and destroy any debug object you want. No restrictions.
- Organized Debug Toggle: Because there's no way to have organized debug items without it being marked as CC, I've added an in game toggle to the filters list. When you're ready to upload to the gallery, just turn it off and restart the game. You may then upload to the gallery without the CC tag.
- Better Filters: You can now choose to see any combination of Maxis, Debug, Live Edit, or Custom Content Objects. No more wading through CC when you just want to find a Maxis item. These filters also make the debug and liveedit objects unnecessary. Just toggle the filter on and they'll be available.
- Persistent Filters: Unlike normal BuildBuy, Better BuildBuy will keep your filter selections saved even if you leave BuildBuy.
- Expandable Catalog: Two rows of objects feeling too crowded? Press the 1 key on your number row to expand it to 5. When done, just press the key once more to return to 2.
- BuildMode FreeCam: Love that tab camera but wish you could have it in buildbuy? That's included with Better BuildBuy as well. Just press tab while in buildmode and you'll snap right into freecam mode.

[FAQ]
Q: Will the debug naming be available in other languages?
A: Unfortunately no, as I have no way to automate that and the objects' technical names are only exist in English in code. This only affects the objects that are normally labeled as "** DEBUG **". All others will still be in your language.
Q: Can't you make it so the Debug items aren't CC while organization is on?
A: No, sorry. This is controlled by the core of the game and there's no way for me to override it. That's why you have to toggle it off.
Q: I already have your Expandable Catalog or FreeCam mod. Should I keep both?
A: No, delete the other mods and only install this one. Only use those mods if you don't want the other features that come with Better BuildBuy.
Q: Do the filters persist/work even when Organized Debug is off?
A: Yep, though you'll need to search for "** Debug **" to view the debug/liveedit items when it's off, like you always have.
Q: Can I filter debug by color?
A: Only on some, sorry. Most debug items have zero color data and there's no way to automatically fill that info in.
Q: The Debug and LiveEdit dropdown categories don't work for me.
A: You need to turn on the debug and liveedit filters, otherwise the category will appear empty since they're filtered out.
Q: Hide Maxis doesn't work on searches, why?
A: Hide Maxis is ignored during searches so that it doesn't appear that nothing was found when it's really a maxi object. Hide Maxis will resume automatically when you go back to browsing the catalog.
Q: When I check Organized Debug, I'm not getting a pop-up telling me it's turned on. Why not?
A: It's pretty much a guarantee that this means the mod is too deep in your Mods folder. When looking at your Mods root directory, you should see a folder named exactly "Tmex-BetterBuildBuy", if you don't, remove and reinstall using the exact instructions below.
Q: Where did my CC go?!
A: CC is off by default, to show it, just check the Custom Content filter under Content. This allows the possibility to view other objects without CC being mixed in. Refer to Filter section below for more info.
[USAGE]
When you first install this mod, Organized Debug is off. Open the Filter Panel and go to Better BuildBuy -> Organized Debug. Turn it on, and then restart your game.
You'll now have access to all of the organization features.
When you're done building and ready to upload, turn this back off and restart the game. You may now upload it without it being marked as CC.
[FILTERS EXPLAINED]
You should not use the usual debug/liveedit cheats. Those are controlled with the content filters now.
Debug - Shows Debug objects. When Organization is off, you still have to search for ** DEBUG to view them.
LiveEdit - Shows LiveEdit objects. When Organization is off, you still have to search for ** DEBUG to view them.
Custom Content - Shows CC. Off by default.
Hide Maxis - Hides all regular objects. This filter is left on, but ignored while viewing search results.
Filters persist for your entire game session, so you only have to set CC on when you start the game, if you'd prefer it to be on.
Installation:
Please follow this exactly.
If you already have a copy of BetterBuildBuy, delete it before adding the new one.
1. Open the download below.
2. Inside will be a folder called "Tmex-BetterBuildBuy". Drag that folder directly to your Mods folder.
Do NOT put it in a subfolder.
3. If you're new to mods, make sure both mods and script mods are turned on in your gameplay options -> Other tab. You'll need to restart the game if it's off.
4. Again, the organized debug option is off by default. You'll need to start the game, go to BuildBuy, and in the Filter Panel scroll to "Better BuildBuy".
Check the "Organized Debug" option to turn it on.
You will need to restart your game for the changes to take effect any time you change this setting.
When looking in your Mods folder, if you don't see the exact folder name "tmex-BetterBuildBuy", it's not installed correctly.
I know that's a lot of reading, but please do check it all. If you're having issues, there's a good chance it's covered in this post.

But also it sounds like you're skipping the step to turn on Organized Debug at the bottom of filters and restart the game. Or if you aren't getting a pop-up when you turn Organized Debug on, it's installed too deep in your mods folder.

2020-09-18 20:06:07 +0000 UTCSorry to bother again. I deleted and re-installed this mod. I clicked 'Better build buy -> organize debug' and closed my game. I re-opened my game and clicked it again and selected the filters "debug, Live Edit" If I select "Hide Maxis" nothing appears even with debug and Live Edit selected. I see the options so the mod should be installed correctly, I press 1 and my catalog expands, I haven't tried the game camera because that doesn't interest me. But I can't get the debug items to physically show up. I attached a screenshot in my earlier post. I never installed a mod before just some CC here and there so I don't have the previous versions of your mod either. Do I give up?

2020-09-14 20:23:56 +0000 UTCI had similar crashing issues when I installed the expandable catalog as a standalone a while back and ended up removing it. I really like the organized debug and filters but I really don't need the expandable catalog if that is specifically having conflicts.

Since when I downloaded the mod, I came to realize that, whenever I tried to enter a lot (with no sim living inside) to build something, the game closed itself at the end of the loading screen. Apparently, this only happens at the end of the loading screen in lots without Sims. At first, I thought this mod could be in conflict with some other mod I own, so I removed all my other mods and tested my game only with your mod on my current savegame, and when I entered a lot to build, the game continued to close itself at the end of the loading screen. As I am a person who is always suspicious of everything, I decided to remove my The Sims 4 folder from "My Documents", started The Sims 4 so that a completely new folder was generated, started a new savegame, and then closed the game, after this, added just yours mod in the "mods" folder and I entered the game again. Then, I activated the debug filter on a lot that had a family, and restarted the game so the mod could works. When I back to the game and tried to enter the lot to build again (with your mod already completely active) the game closedagain at the end of the loading screen. Of the 5 times that I tried to load the lot, 4 of them the game closed itself. As the problem persisted even in a newly generated The Sims 4 folder, with only your mod activated, I thought it would be important to report the issue here. https://i.imgur.com/4aWgj3x.jpg
2020-09-14 19:18:22 +0000 UTCIf you had BuildCam or Expandable BuildBuy installed before, remove them as they conflict with this mod. Also make sure your script mods are turned on in gameplay options if you don't normally use script mods. It's a separate checkbox from normal mods.

The expandable category and filters work just fine and I have tried to download it with a clean mods folder yet I never got the pop-up message when I toggled 'organised debug' for the first time. I followed the instructions (moving the folder 'tmex-BetterBuildBuy' to the mods folder as well as restarting the game after turning on organised debug) yet I still can't get it to work and the game has crashed two times.

When I uninstall everything is restored as it was. Amazing mod overall and not hard to uninstall it when doing collections gameplay.

Sometimes when I click on the Build button, other times in the middle of building. I'm guessing since I haven't seen anyone else complain about it that it's just conflicting with another mod I have. This is the only mod I have installed and under my filters I have better BuildBuy -> Organized Debug checked but when I click on anything in the catalog none of the debug items show automatically. The expandable catalog also works but I'm just struggling with getting debug items to show with the normal items. Any help?

2020-09-13 07:44:02 +0000 UTChi, i'm so sorry you're probably annoyed at all of these but i can't seem to get it to work? when i download the file.. it comes in a .zip - do i put it like that directly on the mod folder? because that's not what i'm doing lol. i open the zip and then a folder pops up with 3 items "data" "tmex-betterbuildbuy.package" and "tmex-betterbuildbuy.ts4scrip" do i put all those in my mod folder? i feel like im doing it all wrong. i've tried maybe like 4 times and my game opens perfectly fine but when i turn on the mod in the filter section..i don't get the little pop up and when i go restart my game the filter is not on... please help me ! i'm so sorry this is a lot and i just feel really dumb.

However, I just installed and activated the mod, and since that, I've been having random crashes to the desktop (with no LE's) when I go from live Mode to buy/build mode. In 45 minutes , my game has crashed 3 times. I'm so sorry for giving such a vague report, but I don't see a pattern on the crashes and the game doesn't generate a thing. When I take out your mod from the Mods folder, everything goes back to normal. I didn't rename any file or put the mod too deep.
