Happy New Year from the SRP team
Added 2025-01-01 11:32:05 +0000 UTCIts been another great year for the project. We cannot thank you enough for your support and we're looking forward to expanding the track even more in the future!
What does the future have in store for SRP? Well, lets go through all the things we've got in the works right now, including the things that were started and not completed in the past:
Two new parking areas:
Hakozaki PA, also known as "the Phantom Parking Area", because of the difficulty of navigating to it and the lack of signage. This was a surprise contribution to the project by Tsuka1427 and Skyflight, who generously provided a custom model for the PA and surrounding scenery and expressway. I must admit we've had a bit of a struggle integrating it into SRP because their work's quality is simply on another level. I cannot wait to share some pictures with you once its running in game! Please support their modding efforts in the 90's Golden Drift Spot Project.
Oi PA Northbound. This is a small parking area on the Bayshore route. We actually featured Oi PA Southbound on SRP since day one, however, this northbound side has been staying completely under the radar, since according to our research it only existed for a few years before it was moved further south. SRP is set in 2007 so that PA was there. Its a small PA, similar to the southbound side. Progress on it is coming along well and you should see photos of it soon.
Two new routes getting picked up again after long periods of innactivity:
A connection between Shibuya Crossing and the expressway exit near Yoyogi PA. I've mentioned this route before and it should be done by now, there's no good excuse from my part as to why its not ready. This should allow people to loop back down to Shibuya after driving the Shinjuku route, without having to drive all the way to Shinjuku station and then back through the same route.
Tokyo-Wan Aqualine. Yeah, thats still a thing. After being shelved for a long time because of difficulties creating the connection to the Bayshore route, as well as the lack of data for Umihotaru PA, the artificial island-parking area in the middle of the route, we've decided to skip the PA for now, only having it as innacessible scenery, while players can keep going and use the roads at the far end of the bridge, across Tokyo Bay, to turn around. I'm very excited for this decision, since it means for the first time ever, SRP will be leaving the dense city setting. We might even have some rural roads for people to drive. No promises though because you can see how such things might end up....
What about <blank>?
The more we talk about things that are not almost done yet, the worse it is for everyone. I dont want to make empty promises, so I'll just say that if you have seen something being worked on and discussed on a progress report like this, it will be completed. If something happens that prevents us from working on one of those things we will let you know but right now, things are good from a technical point of view, we just need to put in the effort and time. Your support is keeping us going and we're still passionate about SRP.
But SRP isnt the only Assetto Corsa related thing moving into the future. Assetto Corsa itself is getting a new version, with AC Evo coming in early access soon. While we are very excited about the game which seems to be perfect for an open world project like SRP, we still dont know much about how modding will work with Evo. For now, we just wait and see how it goes from there.
You can expect a more visually-interesting progress update the next time we post here. Until then, have a great 2025.
